Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

just SAD

Went to a large company Halloween party they put on for the employees families. It reminded me of how much greed there is at the top now. AiResearch, Garrett used to have spring picnics for the families. Christmas shows where the kids got gifts and many other family related items. People were proud of the company. Then the people who did not build the company took over and slowly but surely cut out any joy or pride in working for the company, greed set it in to cost cut to pump up their stock options. Same with the Sperry and Honeywell people. Once Allied Signal took over their family ideals of the founders or second generation people were forgotten.

It is just sad that the top is so greedy and cut costs like these items.

SAD.

I see a lot of frustration on this page and this thread, I understand and get it. I too remember the Holiday party's with nice gifts for children, the company picknics, usually Mother's Day weekend, where we rented every water park in town with hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. I remember the fishing derby and the Cliff Garret Rodeo. And yes, those things are all gone now, most went away after the resession of 2008. But they are never coming back and most major companies are not doing them anymore either and the ones that are are slowly phasing them out. Times in the USA are changing and we can be frustrated and think about the good old days or we can adapt and move forward. You will be happier if you do. If you are not happy take control of your circumstances, get a new job, start a business, learn a new skill. If you say its too late in my carreer to change then I hope you have planned for retirement well. Make the best of what you have, but I will say most of the folks that leave Honeywell I talk to miss it dearly. Also, I see a lot of leadership bashing, if you don't like the current leadership and culture then apply for some leadership roles... Try to make a difference for the people you manage. I can tell you most of the Sr Leaders I know are working 24/7.... They barely take any vacation and when they do they are working. There is an emence amount of pressure on our leaders today and it makes me sick to read about people who say they come to work to see the company fail. At the end of the day Honeywell is still a great company to work for and has great opportunities for those willing to step up, work hard and take risks.

Ok, I am sorry. You will never get back the good old days. It is all about to make profit at the exornase of the good old days. Honeywell does not care about America, National Security, or pride for USA, they only care about profit, at all expense, including your EEI. It is only ilegal if they get cough.

I recall Cote bragging about how HON was supporting education in India. Not long after that I inquired about a HON matching grant for a donation to my alma mater. Nope. Honeywell doesn't do that anymore. HON doesn't support Colleges or other worthy institutions in these here United States.

We just had out biennial open house. For 11am - 2 pm . That's it. oh, you get a One hotdog, chips, cookie, drink. Inflated jumpy house for kids. I did not go . Watching my BMI..... but really because i remember my son was there at last one helping out. Then he gets caught in the layoff two months later. S---s

Here we go again with incorrect statements. This time it is was from post eod. Honeywell was just like Allied before the so called merger. Dave was not Honeywell Blue. He came from TRW in 2002 after the merger and prior to that he was with GE. You can blame all this on him along with 95% of the Aero leadership that are legacy Allied. I only know of 2 Aero leaders that are legacy Honeywell. The entire ALT are not legacy Honeywell. None of them had the nerve to stand up and do what is right. Thus the mess today.

Yes, the prior person uderstood what I may have not articulated very well. It was another company that puts on a nice Halloween party, among other company events for employees and their families.

There is a caring for the employees at that company that used to be there at what is now Honeywell. That was what I was lamenting. People used to enjoy working here and making life long friends. I don't see that anymore. Unfortunately by knowing what those companies were like in the past makes it all the more sad to see what they have become now.

Remember the Christmas bonus? The bosses came around the last day before the break, usually early in the afternoon and passed out the checks. Unspoken, but the rule was that it was okay to leave for home after. And, as the OP pointed out, there were Christmas parties for the kids, the company rodeo and the summer picnics, usually held at several of the valley water parks. Working together at AiResearch is long gone, along with all these things that built that spirit.

If that’s the case, I apologize.

Either way, it is sad.

I don't think the OP went to a Honeywell party. It implies that he went to another company's party and is lamenting the loss of the good ole days of employee-focused management.

Garrett and Allied snd Allied-Signal has all the picnics and Christmas parties and annual rodeos long before Honeyhell was acquired in fact I remember spring picnics and fishing derbies that had a Budweiser trailer pull up and it was all free do don’t tell us Allied signal took this all away. I thought Larry Bosidy retired snd hasd a Honeyhell blue dude take over that would be Cote.

So if your not familiar with the real Garrett: Allied/Allied-Signal font put crap on this site. It is true Honeyhell could care less about its employees that’s why done find it hard to understand you gave a Halloween party specially if funded by the company.

some misunderstood. It was a Halloween party, they also do Christmas, spring and other functions so the employees and their family have a nice time. that company shares in the wealth. Sharing the wealth with employees is what founders and maybe first generation people do that remember who really keeps the company going - The Employees.

It't the latter day people who change the culture for the worse by squeezing every penny out of the employees pocket. Anyone in the Phx area who had parents who worked at AiResearch, Honeywell and who started lat 70s through most of the 90's know what I mean by a company that shares the wealth.

It's just nice to see a company still do this. One that truly cares about the employees and don't just think of them as bellybuttons or costs to be cut or used up until they are dried up.

I remember the good old days. As a kid I attended the Christmas party, as an employee I took my kids there. 2 different sessions at the Shrine. WOW. Not anymore. Employees and any rewards of substance are a liability. We no longer are a company of employees that had the "Can Do" attitude. Expertise is leaving and not being replaced. Just glad I have been there long enough to retire soon with some of benefits that no longer exist. The youngsters that work there now are in for a surprise when they retire if they are not frugal.

No the true sadness is the company or at least your dept. chooses to celebrate and evil themed day like Halloween but refuses to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, that’s the sad part.

Why would your area celebrate a dark day like Halloween, what was the point?

After 37 years I’ve never heard of Honeywell celebrating Halloween.

Oh it’s not CHRISTmas it’s The Holiday. No wonder the company is on the brink.
