Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Regional manager with AutoZone starting with Advance Auto Jan. 9th

Let start by saying how excited I am to be joining the Advance Auto Parts team. I look forward to meeting each and every team member. I have finally completed my series of interviews with your senior management and would like to say how professional they are. My direct report will be with Ms Ayres. I am completely impressed with her knowledge and inter workings at Advance. She has a personal and close relationship with Thomas Greco that has contributed to past companies successes and we will benefit from as well. We will be going through some changes in 2018 and you should be prepared for great success. I will be assessing each team member for strengths and weaknesses. I would say that change will be the word defining 2018. We Had a saying at Pepsi and at the Zone “change is going inevitable what side will you be on?” I am dedicated to success and will accept nothing less. Having served in the US Military I know that sometimes success means giving every ounce of effort. To me this means that what ever is required to be successful and make it happen I am for. I am not opposed to a 7 day work week when needed or extended hours to get the job done. My personal philosophy is “work hard play hard”. Sorry for the extended text I am just excited to get to work with previous and new associates.

I haven't heard about this new leader yet. Nor seen any wonderful positive changes since. Only changes so far, outsourcing by "spark" which leading to further reduction of management team, first we lost 3 out of 4 of our DM team. Then shutting down our east cost hub, eliminated over 600 hard working dedicated employees. Now " spark" comes in to further downsize, cut our most experienced dedicated employees. More hours cut. Promices of future deeper cuts to come. Massive hiring of partime help. Our agm, parts pros retail n commercial about to get some more bad news. Offers of choice between demotion or pink slips. The biggest complaint from our customers of course is our counter helps lack of knowledge of auto parts n systems. The advance ship it's taking on water sinking and bleeding cash. The company throwing money like a drunk sailor opening brand new stores,. Instead of increasing customer base advance is saturated it, Two years ago my store radius 5 miles closest store, today we have 3 stores within a 3 mile radius. Advance says we are working to bring the company back, my humble opinion they are preparing for a sale. You do not dump all of your experienced qualified help, out source jobs n spend more money on it. To improve things. I wouldn't be surprised to find them turning things into a more self service type, flipping the computer terminals around, like others are doing. Bringing in a ton of minimum wage partime help, redefining the meaning of do it yourself expanding the online profile into the stores. Our staff just processing orders. The writing is on the wall at advance, the company is has fallen apart, advance leadership isn't restructuring but just looking to be brought out. Shareholders and only those at the top that's only they worry about.

Why would someone start a job on a Tuesday, and announce it 2 months early....

AutoZone is an even bigger toilet bowl....when Advance began their purge back in 2013 of GM's and others that they targeted as "too expensive", a lot of us went over to "The Twilight Zone" for a while. The only people in that turd infested Company worth their salt were the fellow Advance guys in exile.

It's a damn shame to see a Company I worked for go down in flames. An auto parts company needs parts guys(and gals)...Best Buy and Toy's R Us stooges have ruined a once proud outfit where once "the best part..WERE their people."

Note the same misuse of "inter" company rather than "inner" company as in the Kool-Aid saturated rave above about how everyone's position is safe and AAP plans to grow to 100K employees... sounds like the same propagandist at work.

There is. I way this is a post from Human Resources. Those folks are too busy with their fingers in the dikes. From trying to find the next batch of s---ers to take jobs at Advance to the paperwork for the next round of layoffs those chumps can't see the forest for the trees. This post came from a delusion individual who actually thinks he can save the sinking ship. Well bud I hope you brought a big bucket and you don't tire easily. Keep your resume handy - you'll need it.

Oh great, if you are coming to Advance from Autozone, your probably a looser regional manager that was demoted to a DM job, or worse. Maybe the Washington former Regional. Please stay away, you won't make things better!!!!

Advance already has a bad reputation, This post makes it worse. Such unreal desperation it makes me want to puke.

Why would someone working for a competitor post in a online public forum for layoffs that they are starting 2 months down the road. That alone should raise an eyebrow or two.

Exhibit A-49867 as proof this site is full of trolls. And many of them operate out of a corporate HR department.

Ha, come on, no one is buying what you're selling. Better get off the computer before your mommy finds out you're not in bed!

Good Luck, you have a lot of pissed former customers both retail and commercial that will be very hard to convince. As the saying goes, Fool me once, Fool me twice, three or more times is not an option.
