Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Retail is dying and hurting bad

I'm a solutions manager and it's been brought to my attention that the Great Lakes Region has been disconnecting more lines than it is actually adding. We're in the negative's for growth in the company YTD... What now??? Maybe they can put some more online only specials to drive people out of the store...

If people haven't figured out by now quota is setup to ensure failure those people will never learn.

Not to mention our director felt the need to explain how quotas are calculated on a "kickoff" call this month. Probably got massive backlash from all fronts because almost nobody hit quota last month and this month is just as high.

Everybody acts like the iPhone will save the month but the truth is, 99% of any iPhone we sell will be for a renew with $0 in accessories.

I would guess that it isn't just GL region. We not have a special "customer care pro team" that customers must call if they want to disconnect a line. There's obviously a huge problem with churn.

And yes, quotas are through the roof. There's no way in hell any SM or GM will multiply. The #1 store in my district fell short by 200 renew last month. I've accepted the fact that 1.0 is the best we'll do. Every now and then a few of my reps hit a multiplier but managers are spread too thin across operational tasks to actually team sell and coach like we used to.

If you sell with integrity, you will never obtain the numbers Verizon want you too.

Lets be honest, one talk is horrible. Its a joke when you consider all the cheaper and better options available to customers.

One talk has issues for sure but the desk phones work great if they are setup correctly and have good internet.

I get that reps get stupid marching orders from "leadership"... but the field has to call "leadership" out because the field is the first to die from following stupid orders.

This company need to fire the whole marketing team, we have the worst marketing team of the industry, the HUM although super late to the game we can do great advertisement on tv to sell them, same goes for the gizmo. The One talk is horrible I don't think any biz should use it, is super unreliable and I wouldn't trust it to conduct my biz, when you have a problem no one can come over and fix the issue, if im running a biz I cannot rely on something that works 50% of the time and the call quality s---s. The only stores selling one talk is by reducing the bill and slamming customer with one talks.

All the blame get put on the reps for doing just what management is asking, just ask yourself if these products were so good it wouldn't be so hard to sell them, the HUM is a joke, One Talk is a horrible service that doesn't work.

"I'm a solutions manager and it's been brought to my attention..."

How come it was brought to your attention? Why weren't you paying attention yourself? ; ^ )

Wrong. Leadership wants the cheap slam pig version so they get their bonouses. But it doesn't matter because Verizon corporate stores are way over built. They added them at every street corner during the growth days and now they are just dead weight filled with clerks that get paid $60k plus a year and full benefits. How long do you think this is going to last. No one better act surprised when their store is converted to an AR or shuts down.

reps are going to stop being cheap slam pigs and actually learn how to sell value or they will be out of work. if they had integrity they'd go to war with corporate instead of being dogs scrambling for a few easy coins.

Probably from all those hums and tablets that reps slam on customers. Try selling with integrity.
