Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Q3 or Q4 Rumors?

Anyone heard anything about layoffs at the H.O. in Q3 or Q4? Seems to be occurring quarterly nowadays.

I'm shocked that some of the HR people who have gotten axed haven't spilled the beans or gone to the press.

As for the long tenured people being targeted, I think it's a matter of time until a class action happens around the obvious (in my opinion) ageism.

If I were an attorney in NWA, I'd be licking my chops trying to figure that one out. Make a name for yourself AND get paid.

Fire me out the door with trumped up BS. See how quick the competitors know the inside workings and plans for the next 5 - 10 years.

Strike Back!!!

Yes and I have heard thry are even coming up with bogus complaints and putting associates on "performance improvement plans" to overwork them on the way out until they get fired with no severence. If there is mentionof a PIP GET OUT before they have time to prepare and present it to you. Walmart Associates are essentially vendors with lower pay

I am hearing more and more stories of tenured managers, directors, etc. being FIRED instead of laid off. Reason: To reduce severance package expenses. Many of these firings were based on "trumped-up charges" with little-to-no merit. Assuming this is true, than ANYONE with 10 or more years of service have a target on their backs, and will get NOTHING as they're being kicked out the door!

Senior leaders in HR Ops at home office got laid off yesterday. Some very talented leaders, too/ Walmart Lifers. It's a shame. Too bad we have to read it in the news and not hear about it from our own leadership teams, too.

Told on sept 11th that they are reducing divisions, regions and markets but now we have to wait until 25th to know if we have a job or not then effective oct 3rd so one week notice if you have a job or not let alone the stress of waiting 2 weeks. Sam walton would turn over in his grave treating hard working people like this. No job security at all every year. Maybe they could keep the positions whole and reduce market mgr pay by 60k each. That would covet big part of labor savings and they still would make 6 figures.

Anything in merchandising? Maybe they'll get rid of some of the awful management. Lord knows the AES scores were wretched.
