Winter is Coming

With the announcement of Sean Skelley's departure, winter is here for Sears Holding. Good luck to us all.

Sears keeps promoting within with less compensation than the departing executive.

It is all about cutting expenses.

When they need outside help, they pay over the market rate to attract talent just to realize that it is not a culture fit and then pay extra severance. Culture aligns well with decimating the stores and you gotta have the guts to go along with the roller coaster ride.

Was Chris's role replaced? Probably not. Will he be getting paid as much as Sean? Probably not. So one less position overall and the remaining one at a lower salary. That is all.

Another one bites the dust. It seems like every high executive has left or been replaced at least once in the last few years. DM's are constantly coming and going and we have had four store managers in the last two years. There are only three associates at our store who have been here 2 years or longer. Everyone else is a new hire who know nothing and there is no one left to train them.

I am very surprised that Mr. Skelley left. I believed that the Amazon announcement would only increase the business for Home Services. I guess Mr. Skelley believes Sears cannot recover regardless of what deals or partnerships they bring on. This truly is a sad day.

The guy who is replacing him has worked for Sears for around 17 years, so that is good. I dont remember his name.

I agree with the last post. One of the stores in our district is losing it's 4th ASM in a year since a new store manager came in. I'm not placing blame but something is wrong there. District and regional need to figure it out. The store itself is a good store and the employees that are left are good people.

What position does Sean Skelley hold? I am on my lunch break so I don't have access to Pebble at the moment.

The revolving door of leadership at Hoffman Estates seems to be par for the course. It's like that at the stores too. We are on store manager #3 in two years. Cashiers, salespeople, office and backroom come and go like gypsies. This company burns through so many people like it burns through its cash. Low end jobs always have had high turnover but when there is high turnover of well compensated executives too, and everything in between, something is seriously wrong.

He chose to leave. He's training his replacement before leaving at the end of the month.

Was he fired or decided to leave?

It is even worse if the latter.

It was a profitable unit.

May be not on par with SHC vision.
