It may be a late response, but you can file unemployment. It will take about 2 weeks, but it's better then nothing. You can even do this if your store cuts hours. Hope this helps, and god bless.

Actually they do pay you for lost wages due to the storm. I am in Titusville, Fl and I work at the one in my town and when we were out of work due to storms our store manager made sure we was paid for lost wages until they reopened. I hope this helps. Your paycheck would be whatever you were paid on your last paycheck when you were working.

Red Cross does not pay any type of wages. The only way you will get any type of pay after a disaster is if your state will pay unemployment. For this you will have to check with your state laws as every state is different. Most likely unless your store is closed for an extended amount of time you will not be able to collect unemployment. I would also guess that SHC would not approve any type of unemployment pay. SHC will probably offer you another position at another store until your store can reopen.

Some Texas locations were closed for several days too. Try submitting an application to the Red Cross, once they get their hurricane relief application website working again next week, saying you lost income because of the hurricane shutting down your job. I don't know yet if they'll approve applications for that situation (or only people who had their homes damaged), but I plan to try it next week.

No, they do not pay for days missed. It would be just like a snow storm hitting in the north and the store is closed for a few days. Just like getting laid off or having your hours cut. No fault of yours, just business.

And? Sears didn't cause the hurricane. They weren't open and you weren't there earning a paycheck. Why should you be paid to sit at home?

"No. Why would you get paid if you aren't working?" It's more like you CAN'T work because you know, a damn hurricane?!

I believe it's only for the first impacted day. Meaning if you missed more work than the first day that the store was closed due to the hurricane then you only get paid for one day
