Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Changes are definitely coming

Everythingis so quite at my store... Changes are definitely coming..it's just a matter of when. All team members should prepare for a change..whether it be good or bad. Ir's just reality.

I don't see any good coming from this merger for the old timers. The young ones..they don't care and rightly so...to them this job is just a stepping stone. I understand that.

Amazon has an awful reputation as an employer,,but as customers we all love them..so I understand that too. I have been a team member for three years now. I am not dumb. The changes that are taking place run VERY deep..even if no one is talking about them. Everyone should start preparing for the changes that are about to come.

Lol you don't make an acquisition of that size without spending millions on research and due diligence. Far greater minds than yours were involved in assessing the risks and benefits to this deal. They probably have a greater awareness of the state of things than you, the low level worker, could ever have.

I think that is very naive. I'm sure this billionaire has no idea what he got himself into. Too bad he didn't have wfm employees to guide him with their business-analyst skills. Maybe he is not an idiot?

The big change is going to come when Bezos realizes that he's the proud owner of a $14 billion nightmare. No rational chain tries to go national with a collection of far flung local and regional chains with separate logistical systems and ordering databases all based on 30 year old technology. That's why chains like Publix have gradually grown from region to region, state to state. 90% of those reading this don't understand the extent of the FUBAR in the company's operations. It's a clusterfkk inside a tangled knot of incompatibility, held together with fraying string and wet duct tape. This won't end well.

We have more guests, talk of a remodel in 2018 and so far we have enjoyed some overtime.

I think things will slowly improve.

Lol 3 years? Please grace us with your insight from all that experience, oh great one. Things are quiet because they are starting to go well. The dust of the layoffs has settled, new faces are shopping due to the merger, and the fat from lazy lifers has been trimmed and replaced with part time college kids who don't have a desire to love up with the company just like any other retail outfitter.

You guys with three years experience have a lot of insight. Stores been quite probably because were comping again and buisness is actually going smoothly. Yeah change is going to come but quit acting like your F---ing lives are going to be ruined by this buyout. It's a job you can find another no one needs prayers, it's a fkn grocery store dumb--ses.

I've been a team member for 12 years and the same crap is till happening. We just got a new store team leader who is turning our store into her old store which happens to be 5 miles away. So much for the unique experience. There is a feeling among leadership that we have a sugar daddy now, so let the spending and hiring up begin! Unfortunately, none of the old problems have been addressed-lack of accountability, minimal training, people in positions they have no business being in, maybe some leadership or managerial training ? We're still ordering product with 1980'esque methods, there is no accountability for ridiculous over ordering at the warehouse and no communication when you ask. Finally, try, just try to address your concerns with anyone from the TL up, you will regret it forever. Document, document, document. I do. Do you know that a few years ago we had a squirrel living in our store? The store TL would not harm the critter, so he offered a reward to team members to catch it and place it harmlessly outside. Meanwhile, every morning I would walk in to hundreds of dollars of cheese in our coffin case with bite marks, feces on top and urine, no lie, puddles of urine all over the place. I couldn't understand that much urine coming from a squirrel. We wasted upper $1,000's in cheese. it's still that mentality in our store, don't ask don't tell.

Your remarks echo my store exactly. I'm also a 3 year team member and feel the quiet before the store. My prayers go out to all TMS.
