Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart September layoffs announced

told on sept 11th that they are reducing divisions, regions and markets but now we have to wait until 25th to know if we have a job or not then effective oct 3rd so one week notice if you have a job or not let alone the stress of waiting 2 weeks. Sam walton would turn over in his grave treating hard working people like this. No job security at all every year. Maybe they could keep the positions whole and reduce market mgr pay by 60k each. That would covet big part of labor savings and they still would make 6 figures.

Market Managers aren't that high of a band, what are they, maybe a band 5? I assure you if that is true they aren't getting a base salary of $160K a year, no way. I would guess that they are around $90K base, maybe $95K.

How much do you think market managers make to be able to reduce by 60k across the board and still make 6 figures? Coming from HR knowledge, they aren't that high of a pay band.

All the big retailers are restructuring buying departments this month it seems. Ahold is doing the same and so has Lowes. Glad I'm back in the supplier community. At least I know that my job is never safe and I can't be complacent.
