Thread regarding Sears layoffs

We know there will be store closings announcements next week but does anyone know anything about store layoffs?

Someone out there has to know something. It's been too quite on here lately.

not right before Christmas, they will likely be closing on Christmas , so they can get that last day in . then the store will not reopen

Really, next week? Announced stores usually close 3 months later, so any stores announced next week would be closing right before Christmas!

I can believe at least 40 next month as well. I can only imagine how worse it will be after the holiday sales. Probably will be another 100 in January. Better get your resumes updated.

Probably at least 40 stores will be announced by October. They will need some stores to liquidate excess merchandise and to increase sales for the 4th quarter.

Layoffs? Probably not unless the entire store closes.

THIS was actually the week that they told us last year that we were closing. We started liquidation on Sep 22. And we had almost 2 weeks after we closed to the public to finishing removing fixtures and cleaning. They scheduled it so we would be done right before Christmas.
