Thread regarding Sears layoffs

craftsman warranty - no tools avalable at sears

Anyone working at sears go into MSP look under Merchandise Flow Bulletin and Availability, look at hardlines - tools - 10 pages of tools not being sent to your stores due to vender issues, or not being restocked.

Forget having screwdrivers, sockets, to warranty for people, we don't have any nor are any coming anytime in the near future. This is the end folks if the vendors are not sending us product for sale and warranty then we as a company are done.

Makes sense. Mattress have a high margin and they take lot of space. However, I don't think mattresses will sell enough volume.

We are also starting to consolidate our tool department and take down fixtures. And yes, they are going to expand the mattress department. They have already started to do so in some stores in our district.

"We had a DM in our store who said Sears is going to be reducing the size of the tool department company wide. He said it has already started in some stores and will accelerate after the first of the year."

Oh man, that sounds bad. What will they do to fill the space, spread out all those mattresses more? :-S

Every day I get people coming in to get tool replacement and I get to tell them so sorry we are having vendor issues with replacements..... then they see the full set they want to break the pack open, again I say sorry cant do that... this needs to stop either close these stores or fill them with product. This stress is really making it hard to show up every day.

Pretty sure you can't run the owner of the company out on a rail.

Not an employee, just someone who loves the tools. This article might shed some light on it:

Yes, vendor issues is what they are telling us in HA when we have zero water heaters available for sale fro the past two months. What a joke. We are supposed to tell someone with a failed water heater that we will get around to installing it in October? (maybe?) Those responsible for allowing things to get this bad should be run out on a rail.

Makes sense. Sell even less of the thing you are most known for.

It's because of the Black and Decker buyout. The company that now owns Craftsman has chosen to make some changes.

Yeah I don't buy that excuse. I don't think they have many vendors left to go to.

When Sears switches vendors it usually takes quite a while to get tools actually in the store.

@sly - "Switching vendors" is Sears way of saying that there are no vendors willing to supply us with those goods.
