Does anyone even trust the anonymity of that stupid "Ask Karl" feedback site?

Seems ridiculous at this point that they should try to keep hardware-related layoffs under the radar. The news is already out that Oracle is working to divest itself of most of the on-prem hardware business and the Wall Street analysts love it.

We get it. Oracle needs to pivot to cloud to survive and anyone associated with on-prem won't have a seat on the train.

Karl Braitberg should cut big now and then just fill future gaps with NCGs that have no emotional baggage. All his talk of developing culture and the ridiculous cheerleading on the WWOPS Today email newsletters come across as sick jokes.

So it's the 28th now? Appreciate whatever leaks we can get.

Once again, LE is desperate to keep layoffs under the radar to avoid publicity, thus almost weekly drip, drop layoffs, which are completely dysfunctional from an operations perspective, but that is irrelevant right now

Completely agree. One big cut instead of every couple months. Also, just got word that WWOPS RIF pushed to 28th. But if everyone gets FedEx'd 27th..?

"If they did one deep cut and afterwards said that that'll be it for a year or two then the survivors might be able to keep both eyes on work rather than on career web pages."

I agree. I also think it would keep people's eyes off THIS page. The lack of transparency around all of this is one reason people are coming to this site and looking at career web pages.

Nothing happened in HK/Shanghai.

Even after February, we had single-digit layoffs in SCA here and there.

The SVPs and VPs probably think that these small under-the-radar layoffs keep morale from cratering but they'd be fooling themselves. The constant talk about how yet another person or group was let go keeps the stress levels up and the productivity levels down.

If they did one deep cut and afterwards said that that'll be it for a year or two then the survivors might be able to keep both eyes on work rather than on career web pages.

And it's not untrue to say that some of those who jumped ship over the past few months were probably the ones that WWOps would have wanted to keep.

New speculation:

9/27 for international: UK, HK and other Asia location..

9/27 for Domestic...Include SCA/Burlington/Colo/Oregon.

Talked to some WWOPS SCA folks. People are waiting for the 2nd shoe to drop. The last

RIF at SCA/WWOPS was ~ 5-7% back in Mid Feb 2017..

Some folks already bailed out during the last couple months. So it might be another

trimming style of RIF...

Well, I was seeing chatter about something possibly hitting today. Anything going on?

RIF process is different for employees in HK/Shanghai. The PRC has its own version of WARN if I remember right. They'll probably stay aboard for a couple of months.

Wondering if it'll be a big RIF or if it'll be another drawn-out trimming. Realistically, a gradual trimming would make more operational sense but Wall Street likes big RIFs because it looks like the execs are being bold.

Hmmmm..

One reported that 9/20 RIF for WWPOP's International location, that could include HK/CHINA/xxx.

Domestic : 09/27, include SCA/Oregon/COLOR/Burlington.

Will see what happen to HK/Shanghai folks tomorrow..
