Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

DELLize means you'd better deliver

My bet is JB and CB gone by EOY, question is whether it's before/after Cyclone either fails completely or pauses to totally restarts with some realistic expectations that can be delivered before the end of the decade. Meanwhile, CML is eating their lunch.

JB,CB and SS will be around till mid next year till cyclone fully fails. That Cyclone is a bad idea has already penetrated into their consciousness albeit late. The fact that they now want to revive the SC series proves the point. With VWware and Nutanix around we just have to wonder which genius came up with this costly idea.

I seriously doubt the competence of the people making decisions on cyclone. One key point to note is the migration project in cyclone. Forget the fact that there is no proper business case for that project. Why in hell would an mid range entry level equallogic or SC customer pay so much buy cyclone and migrate to it. The other fact is the team working on it the BDC storage doesn't know jackshit about basics of storage arrays.,administration and their coding level is not above high school level programming. They messed up an earlier migration of PS to SC. Now there BDC storage team are fooling the cyclone management withbfake reports and their is no underlying code. But the question is on the incompetence of these cyclone management to understand reality.

I disagree with people who don't want to give credit to JB and his team for their vision. JB and his team started the Cyclone project almost 3 years ago because they realized times for changing and EMC needed to compete with a much more innovative product in the market. EMC logo was still outside of the buildings when this project was initiated. Unfortunately though, time to market either makes you a hero or a zero. I hope MRES engineering overcomes the obstacles and delivers in time because the clock is running out. Not sure how much patience MD has left.
