As soon as LJE goes or steps back more, ES will be gone.

What do you means by above. I heard TK refuse to use Oracle's own Sparc hardware in favor of X86 + Redhat Linux.
The video was hard to watch. He looked for all the word like he was trying to pull himself inside his own orifice, which is hard to do while you're wearing a suit.
I feel sorry for those forced to be there and clap at command to the autistic man saying M8 is the best cpu for DB on prem, while just a few days before that same autistic man said in the infamous conf-call that given the market condition Oracle is divesting from onprem and investing only in cloud, and so poor O is forced to layoff all the HW division. what a miserable company O has become.

It was pre-recorded the week before in front of an audience of employees. Surprisingly few of the invited SPARC & Solaris engineers were eager to show up to look like an eager audience just two weeks after watching everything they worked on for years shredded and having to help hundreds of friends and coworkers pack their offices while wondering why they were still left with a job.

no words about future, apart the confirmation that S11.4 is delayed until fall 2018 (if it will ever see the light, that is). just to put in perspective: S12 was expected to see the light early this year, then after the "renaming, but everything the same, be assured" S11.4 was expected for H1CY17, then Aug17, then H2CY17, then early CY18, now fall 2018. yeah, everyone is stupid and tis is a fake news, sure.

overall a really depressing show. yeah, M8 best cpu for DB, please Mr Screven go tell this to your Oracle colleagues, starting from TK and MH.
truth is SPARC is dead, would be very funny if an HW bug show up with no engineers left to solve it..... Solaris is struggling to have bugs resolved, talking with a support eng he said to be in "file and forget" mode, unless it's a severe security issue, and even in that case it will take ages to solve given the very few resources available....
M8 selling good so Big O decide to resurrect SPARC? maybe, and then you really think that it will be so easy to re-hire 2000 engineers for design/cad/prototype/debug? and even if you succeed in, say, 6 months to re-hire some NCGs, how long will it take to design a new SPARC chip from scratch? are you really that stupid to think that this is realistic? geez.... I know HR and marketing guys are stupid, but this is too much.

They got some blowback from some customer somewhere, so they made up a fake news announcement to confuse them with.
Rumors abound, but the truth is SPARC is alive, Solaeis 11.4 will be released and some good folks lost their jobs in the process.

New Itanium chips came out a few months ago. Does anyone think Itanium has a bright future?
We're just trying to recoup some of the money we poured into the development of this chip. We have lay off almost 90% of that org. There will never be a new SPARC chip from Oracle. The last major operating system that supports SPARC, Solaris, is now in maintenance mode and we don't even have the engineers left to fix most hot customer bugs.
Sure, we'll still sell SPARC systems for a few more years. But good luck to anyone who buys them and needs support!
