Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

Molina will be leaving Long Beach after the endless layoffs

If Molina is successfully bought, they will be gone from Long Beach, while taxpayer money is futility being wasted by the city to keep a dying horse. With their financial performance, bankruptcy is more likely. They keep increasing the numbers projected for layoffs that have now become a weekly event.

If you plan to have coverage, start looking elsewhere.

"No more layoffs per se"? Really? WAKE UP!

They laid off more people yesterday. This will probably happen every pay period. Reorg...layoff some folks. This is a company prepping to sell it's membership. Wake up.

Read the valuable other posts folks have shared. The internal info about WAVE 2.5. The script is there for a reason...this isn't going to have a happy ending for anyone working at Molina. Read what the healthcare industry is saying. Read what the stock market pundits are saying. If you find comfort in thinking your job is, "safe" then no one can warn you. But there's no boss at Molina who can promise you that your job is safe. That is irresponsible and incorrect. In the end, your boss and Molina do not have to feed your children or send them to college or pay your rent. You do. Just pay attention. I am shocked but how naive people have been acting. It's sad.

They're not closing the LB office unless they're laying off the entire nurse advice line. We are a 24hr 7 day a week dept. We are on the 3rd floor of the Long Beach office, so far the only lay off has been our AVP.

That's correct, now it is time to rebuild and Joe and Terry shared on the intranet last month. We should just focus on work and get going. Dust will settle down in few months.

Note: no more layoffs, per se. There might be re-orgs which happen all the time even in the best of times. Folks who are at work now should be thankful to their Mgmt for not letting them go in the worst of times - shows that they do care for you.

Will they really be closing all the offices in Long Beach?

The projected layoffs have not changed, it's still at 1500. The WARN act notices are misleading. They get filed the day the layoffs occur, but the effective date is weeks ahead. Last week's layoffs called for a filing of new notices, which included approximately 500 employees in CA, per the article posted on Press Telegram (http://www.presstelegram.com/business/20170727/molina-healthcare-begins-laying-off-long-beach-workers).

Also mentioned is the November 15th effective date. Well for many of those let go last week, their effective date is November 15th, which means they will receive regular salaries and benefits until then, after which severance kicks in.

So these 500 are not new layoffs. They are not in addition to the original 1500, but a part of.
