The sales numbers are plummeting down four quarters. Netapp, HP, pure ..are gonna eat into Dell EMC market share. The current storage leadership can't hold a candle compared to their counterparts in other companies. They have risen up the ranks because all the best EMC engineering leadership have quit the company. What's left Is a hollow shell poor in strategy and execution. It needs to be seen how Jeff Clarke can do a turnaround. It would indeed be a miracle if that happens.

The only option for JC is to get fresh blood from outside EMC.
He should start firing as many useless people as possible. And I think he is doing it right now which I can only commend.
Yah, fresh blood that does not know how the hardware works or how to integrate w the applications.
Automation! Yah, emc had all the teams writing automation scrit's for all testing utilities so brain dead offshore people can run tests but have no clue what the result mean. They simply run them and seND the reports. Fail/Pass/high/low/bw issues? They don't know what the reports mean and just send a spreadsheet with the results. We're they good/bad? No idea, but they sure ran the tests. Complete waste of time when an analyst reviews the data and make the rerun the tests but the offshore people don't make any changes and get the same results. Sure they get 10:1 people in cost, but those 10 people are worthless.
Follow BP guides? Ha, lucky if the lan/san even work. Does the array show host connectivity, yep. Is it done correctly, never. Switch configuration, meh, auto works why configure the FC or ethernet switches when auto works.
Customers will find out real soon that the "golden numbers" are from crystal palace clean lab networks and real world production cannot get anything close, and worse complete data loss.

JC can't do sh--. Only thing he can do is what Dell does best. Cost reduction through outsourcing to India, China and phillipines. That won't make you a storage leader it will help sustain losses in the near term.
