Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

There are lots of jobs out in the valley, jump ship

I cannot believe how many different engineering and non engineering jobs there are out in major areas. I'd say if you're wanting and able too, leave Oracle I was loyal until E Screwjob S gave the Oracle look to your right and cough as we castrate you. Ladies Sorry. If you're able jump ship, again a lot of jobs out there. Oracle don't give pay raises, nor bonuses. Benefits at some other tek companies much better.

@Pmx9mnU-oan Raises, bonuses, & stock (options/rsus) are very unevenly distributed at Oracle, with only about 20% of engineers getting them, and varying widely by org. If you got them every year you were probably both very good and very lucky.

Not all those affected live in silly valley. Fortunately the job market in the East is also pretty strong.

Remember you're your own employer, leave Oracle if you're able. The company has a cancer, call E Srewjob S, his M8 presentation wasn't the best. The little guy might has performance issues with his wife, anyhow. Any future customers, stay away from Oracle hardware, they are not serious about it and will sell you stuff they will no support. Who and the hell is going to stay on at Oracle to support Solaris until 2034? Do the math, the idiot manager I worked for is older, hopefully dead but since he was a liar that happened to be from another country or Asian Indian decent that hates Americans that couldn't save his Solaris Asian Indian counterparts. DARN!

Don't stick around, don't be loyal to Oracle, they will screw you over. As they did 2500 high quality engineers on 9.1.2017. All Oracle did, created a lot of unemployeed engineers that really don't want to work for Oracle, and some will move in to IT shop mangers positions and so on. They will buy AWS and other's cloud offerins. Oracle cloud services doesn't really work, it's a terrible service, Bare Mental works but a lot of work for customer to set up. Oracle buy more engineers in Seattle from Google and or Amazon, make your Terrible cloud service better.

Oracle messed up with ES or ED, erectile dis function Screven, engineers remember. E Screwjob S, sleep well Larry jack off man.

Larrry go smoke one, have E Screwjob S show up, svck the Ellison and tuck you in bed as he holds a sword over your head

CO is great! The best places to live are outside of Denver. Look at the Boulder/Longmont area (15 minute commute, large affordable houses with huge lots, mountains in the backyard). Lots of people live in Longmont and work in Boulder. Houses are significantly cheaper in Longmont.

Google is currently building a HUGE campus on the NE side of Boulder.... perfect for a commute out of town to your mansion.

Fort Collins area is even cheaper than Boulder. Very nice area to live in also.

We moved from the bay area to Longmont in 2000. We sold our tiny house in Santa Clara and bought a house twice the size on 2/3 acre lot and had $100,000 to burn. You don't have to live in Denver. Lots going on in the Boulder area.

The Boulder downtown also is known for start-up web shops where you can bring in your dog for the day to hang with the other dogs. Unlimited vacation, good pay, bonuses, nice people.

It's good out here..... you should take the plunge if you are sick of paying a million dollars for a tiny house with no yard back in silicon valley.

What do you mean ORCL doesn't give pay raises and bonuses? What are these things I get yearly from my manager and not even mentioning RSUs? I've had a pay raise every year at ORCL. Maybe it's discretionary and not given to under achievers. I don't know but I do know that anybody who says no pay raises is talking BS.

This is dependent upon the area you are in. I was in fusion middleware... no raises/no bonuses for last 3 years I was there. Before that, I got great bonuses, pay raises and promotion. A lot of Oracle though, is seeing some really bad times, that is not the fault of the employees. If NO ONE in the business area is getting a raise, then it doesn't matter what you do, you won't get one.

"Commute typically less than 15 minutes. CO has the quality of life."

If you live close to the office, sure. I know many who commute 1 hour each way to their jobs in Denver

Yeah, CO is great, pay isn't terrible, real estate is starting to get pretty high, but still no where close to CA. There are def more jobs over there though.

CO isn't bad. The 4000 sqft mansion with panoramic mountain views in CO is 2 times cheaper than 50 year old shed at Sunnyvale area. Pay aren't that far apart. Commute typically less than 15 minutes. CO has the quality of life.

I'm in CO and while I see a TON of jobs out there in my field, I have no clue how anyone actually affords to live out there. Do you just commute 1+hr every day?

Even better, line some things up and if lucky, get both a package and get a new job quickly!
