My manager said Larry has told ES to eliminate most if not all remaining Sun engineering. A direct order from LE, good luck to you all. The goal is to rid Oracle of most of its direct hardware sales and focus on cloud. Services is next, Oracle plans on out sourcing most if not all field services. "Company has not been mentioned yet." Goal; divest Oracle of any on premise support and sales. Rumor has it, Larry didn't like how JF handled down sizing so ES maybe ED was brought it to put Sun out of its misery. This has been repeatedly confirmed. All Sun-related functions are being dismantled to emphasize cloud. Engineering, sales, and marketing all mostly gone already. Whatever is left is there to sell "continued support" to all those bolting SPARC/Solaris customers through OOW, and then it will all be gone.
This has all the earmarks of another DD "idea"; "Hey, let's get rid of a successful hardware base we've spent a decade building so we can focus on selling Cloud, even though we don't have the infrastructure or expertise to compete against AWS!"

No it makes sense, Oracle wants to present some kind of commitment to keeping Sun hardware sales and support in place. Bail if you can.
I think this to be true, after ES laid my whole Sparc team off on 9.1.2017. Telling us what a great job we did, then "Today is your last day at Oracle, packages have been mailed to your home address. Operator close the call." This is true, I heard this was coming but didn't believe it until this post.
