@PoimKci-3xow - just like you and some others here, I certainly have a family to take care of. I am like many also in grave danger of RIF. But instead of whinging "booo hooo, how come the world ain't beating a path to our door?" I am facing the reality. It is the 4th Technological Revolution and there is blood in the streets (figuratively speaking). You can bemoan reality or you can face it.

@PoimKci-3pch

"So what."

so what ? you are writing about people, not numbers. And you don't even understand that.

Shame on you.

Maybe you'll understand when people will say numbers when speaking about your family members.

Ah ok, you don't have family, you only have numbers.

You are pathetic.

really? if it was for those reasons, then why all those customers are not using hosting and operational leasing? I mean, hosting it's here since many years....

there is clearly something missing.... the cloud-way to use services is very different from what you wrote herebelow, the cloud consumption model is radically different than hosting (which is basically a managed on-prem offsite) and unfortunately Oracle cloud is really very far from that consumption model.

all the cloud revenues (maybe apart SaaS coming from Netsuite) are actually coming from on-prem business in terms of lift&shift. killing onprem means killing the current Oracle cloud business model without having a new cloud business model, or having a very limited one. that's why declining on-prem bsuiness means declining Oracle cloud business, and you have seen the first effect of this in the recent SC discussion with analyst.

it is true on-prem is declining, but investing in it for a couple more years, until a real cloud offering is ready, would have been the right move from Oracle, given the 60B cash we have.

instead, Oracle is trying to force customer to adopt the current Oracle (non)cloud hoping they will be forced to remain also in the future. worse and most dangerous bet LE/MH/SC have ever made IMHO.

So what. ES is stating the obvious. More and more potential buyers of on prem stuff are going for the "rental" route instead. Who wants to manage all that capital depreciation? Who wants to have an army of people to manage one's own data center? It's all about the numbers boys and girls. It's always been about the numbers. Face it, in some ways (thankfully not totally yet) on prem is like the buggy whip industry. "Creative Destruction" - it's biting us all on the arse. You cannot stop it. No one can.

"M8 is a great processor but a you are no more needed"

"given the current market condition Oracle is investing in cloud and divesting from onprem"

..... geez, hearing this from the own voice of the (on prem) Chief Architect Edward "autistic" Screven is somewhat disturbing...

Wouldn't mind hearing it.

It'd probably be bad press for Oracle though and would make it hard to attract talent. No new-hire would like to think that they'd be treated like a turd even in a RIF.

OP, keep that audio for your lullabies. No one interested in an outdated audio. There are a lot more current interest than something you take to sleep with. Shooo !!!
