Sales SVP gets heads up on layoffs after open world

An SVP in the sales org got a heads up from a buddy in HR that his name was on the list. He gave me the heads up too, he's got nothing to lose. Layoffs coming shortly after open world. If Oracle was laying off before the stock price tanked and the quarterly earnings were good you can imagine what its going to be like when the earnings and stock are down.

No hiding the cloud washing in Q2, the one time support cloud credits in general have not been consumed. Current sales Org is seen as an ineffective cost. Execs plan on laying the blame on the sales team to explain to the market why cloud revenue is down. Massive cuts and attempts to hire replacements with cloud and agile back grounds underway.

ECA team to be decimated.

So the "Execs" plan to blame Sales for the deceleration in cloud revenues? Hold on a minute, I clearly recall MH stating, on multiple earnings calls, that Oracle has the best sales people in the market and this is why the ERP portfolio is so strong. Also, SC stated, on last weeks earnings call, that Oracle has a large "backlog" in deploying cloud customers. Most of us know these comments are confusing, if not FALSE, considering the significant amount of financially engineered cloud deals that have been executed to artificially inflate cloud related revenues.

Not that many SVPs. Is HD a SVP? RG is an SVP but doubt it would be him.

OPC is a joke. It's just like Solaris. Steadily goes downhill.

Market is not going to buy the idea that it's the sales people who are bad, at this point in time anybody who takes investing seriously and follows the tech industry knows that oracle cloud products are crap, as of course do customers. MH & co have no credibility

It's all crap. I was in engineering. There is nothing in the cloud any customer wants to use or buy.

They need to wipe out the engineering management and start over. Nothing short of that will make any difference, the customers aren't as stupid as the engineering management is.

Managers/directors see a demo of something and their tiny brains immediately think it is all wonderful. It's all fake. They'll replace the sales force and NOTHING will happen.

Oracle will have to pay SC/ECA more, with Oracle's reputation of layoffs and such. Wonder how Oracle's compensation is compared to the rest of the IT world?

I can see the headlines now "Oracle fires sales team in massive retooling effort to sell cloud." The market responds well to this sort of thing. Oracle has determined that the old ways of selling software are no longer effective when selling cloud.

I can see the article that will be written clearly...

Massive cuts were made today in order to strengthen Oracles commitment to becoming an enterprise cloud company. "We had to make some hard decisions," MH said in an interview with CNBC. "After a long look at our sales growth and decline, we determined our sales team was ineffective and getting our customer base to consume and use the cloud credits sold to them. Its a new era and we need to focus on customer consumption of the cloud. Obviously our legacy sales team is not good at that. We have begin taking steps to correct customer consumption by hiring sales talent with proven track records in that area."
