I received a not so subtle message from my manager that there will be cuts following 3Q (after end of Sept sometime). I don't know any more details. Heard anything else?

Watch out around earnings announcement time, mid-late October. Those chosen will only get 45 days notice since executives feel most employees quickly stop working and 60-90 days is too much. Exit date will be before 12/15 to avoid paying the 401K match.
For the record: I left in 2011 (GBS), there is no way in hell I'd recommend IBM to my current employer.
Look at the layoffs in the third quarter as a blessing in disguise. You will be much happier away from IBM's soul-crushing, career-ending atmosphere. Don't sweat it. Drink some Kool-Aid. Take it from me: in the long run you will be glad you were laid off from IBM. Life is far better after Big Blue.

Right, everyone knows that. It's just the timing that we're particularly interested in. Hence, the post.
One wonders when they will reach the tipping point. Thousands of people being mistreated by IBM and dumped onto the market with payback on their minds is a bad thing. Most of not all will end up working for ibm customers or prospects where they will spread the truth about IBM to anyone who will listen. More deals will get lost and more contracts cancelled as tens of thousands of angry ants gnaw away at them every day. There aren't enough of celebrity commercials to counter that much Bad will.
