@8Xrkm...right with you on that, but I also help with audits and membership desk. Guess we will see what happens to us once block schedule starts.
Might as well get rid of Comp Associates. Only comp once a week now and my list has been cut by 75%. Signs, CIM, and test scanning is all I do now.
ptcs, gone march 28, 2019
What happens to membership coordinator?? Rumors flying everywhere and can't get into alot of places anymore, better offers online.
It all begins with the dock associates not clerk. You clerks think your job is so important that we can not do without you. Every job is just as important. My clerk did not get any extra responsibilities when audit left. Our team lead did in receiving and floor leads. Each club gave there resposibillities to different folks. We all need to remember all jobs are important. You can not do 1 without the other. I feel bad for anyone losing there job.
If you have never been in a position, how do you know what they do? Audit, yes.. had lots of stuff to do in the office with a computer, mainly the lead but, the others too sometimes. Receiving , the lead and clerk and even the receiver are in the office. Clerk has many responsibilities IN THE OFFICE! That is their job! They check everything that comes in the building. If it needed to be received, they make sure it was done properly. Everything to do with the club starts there. If it isn't received correctly, there is an error in the whole system, from on hands to CIM. Which leads to associates and members not being able to find what they need. Yes, they have eliminated some of the responsibilities of the office clerk.... but they have also added some with the audit team being gone. Yes this site is all rumor... until it happens. But we all are sure something big is coming. Now we just wait! I love my job! Love Sam's Club too, they have been good to me. It's poor management and business decisions that are really effecting many..... when the people managing you and your teams have no idea what you do and no interest in learning any of it.... that is when things start to fall apart. It has already begun!
I started out as a cashier, moved up to MSS, got so sick of that rat race I moved to audit. I worked 4 years, always on time, worked any time I was needed, did each and everything I was asked to do. The lead in audit begged me to come to audit so I did. Had my yearly review, exceeded expectations all scythe board, inventory came, my team mate broke her ankle, could no longer be on the audit team so it left just me and the team lead. I was expected to complete my daily audits, weekly audits, club pick up, plus my scheduled audits and help members locate things in the club. I had to do the CIM everyday and do price changes per club managers request. I was terminated the day after Mother’s Day for inability to complete task at hand. Rehirable but I refuse to ever step foot or spend any money in a Sams clud. I loved my job and miss it and all my members and co-workers but monkeys could do a better job running that place. In that club it’s not how hard you work and how dedicated you are to your job and making your members happy so they will come back it’s how many credits and upgrades you get. Then you get coachings if you can’t get a certain amount in a week
Anyone who worked in audit can tell you that was not an office job. Were there parts at a desk yes. 75% was out on the floor trying to locate what others couldn’t be troubled to find. CIM is an utter mess without them cleaning it up. This DOES impact the members experience and speed in which things that are in the steel are located.
Keep taking away cash office and receiving jobs afterwards. Get back to me in 2 years when the company still DOESNT care about the millions in shrink increases that come from it. The cash recyclers cost more money a month to rent and repair than they could have paid a team lead 3X.
Everything is cyclical. They can get rid of the positions now and sweep out some people who were coasting. Stick around long enough and change will probably bring a job back with different responsibilities and title.
Gisele and John are just so focused on sales that it will be too late for them to recover once the negative impact of eliminating these key positions in most buildings will have long term.
There is good technology out there to help with this stuff, unfortunately no one is going to be there to use it to benefit anything.
So I get the post below about no one wants to work hard then see someone sitting in a office but for my position (marketing) yes we sit in a office some days but do you know what we are doing? We are making appointments, finding leads in our area, trying to get into major companies to sell memberships. If the company is moving into a new direction and doesn't want clubs to do that then that's fine but we DO NOT just "sit in a office". Any sales job is hard including B2B marketing for Sam's Club. I bet you have never even been in marketing...
I can't speak about cash office, ptc, receiving because I've never been in those roles.
I am a PTC! I work anywhere in the club that I need to help out. Plus pretty much do all the hiring. I don't just stay in my office. I have been with this club for 31 years. I have worked receiving, claims, meat dept, fresh, bakery, cafe,f\c grocery, HMS, Cafe, host, ect. only been a PTC for 11 years.. been with the company 31 years. also been team leader for several departments. this is a great company to work for!! You just have to have the initiative!
Obviously at some point the office jobs WERE of more importantance since they were getting paid at a higher level. It's easy to say they don't do anything now because of the way the company has eliminated their duties from yr to yr. Do not expect a short term associate to see that. I'm sure they've expected their jobs to be either cut to part time or eventually eliminated. They are long term associates for a reason.
Jfyi... confirmed means they have happened until then all rumors! This site only helps to keep people on the edge it’s doesnt change the fact that it can/will happen. Been through this with working at Sam’s. If you are a good associate and open to change then there’s always a spot for you. If you hate working for Sam’s then move on, no one is making you stay, open up the positions for people that want to do the work.
Just a thought that popped into my mind!!! Maybe Sam’s could start using this website to see which positions could be eliminated!? If there’s that much concern then maybe it’s times to be adaptable and embrace change a little. I have a job. I get paid to do that job. I can leave at anytime and go find another job... but I didnt when I got restructured. I get hella pto time... I’m not going to get that much anywhere else. The people aren’t bad... just the handful that have bad attitudes and create rumors and screw everything up for the rest of us.
Here’s some real info:
Jewelry team lead did happen many years ago. However, those people were allowed to to stay in their position but the club doesn’t fill after they move on that particular role. It’s just jewelry associates. The team lead was/ is leading themselves with maybe one other associate. Lame.
Merch ops did happen a few years ago and if you had copied and pasted correctly it says in lower tier clubs. Have you been in a lower teir club? If you can throw a rock and it doesn’t hit anyone in the middle of the day then you probably don’t need an extra manager in the club. Try a high volume club. Transfer today! Then you will understand what real work is.
Cash office teamlead. Not the entire cash office.
As for the remainder of the positions listed above... if you look at those positions and have nothing to do then why keep them? Have you been on a front end recently, on the floor with members asking you where everything is, or maybe in fresh? These associates are working hard and we have associates sitting in an office reading this site crying if they will be next.
It’s retail. Not an office and definitely not rocket science. Open your eyes people. No one has to be telling you what the company is doing next. Just watch the people. And if you are over their working your bum off and go back and see people sitting in an office... do we really need them?
Rant over!
Costco is getting rid of tobacco company wide. Like CVS did. They have already started this in the Northwest. Maybe that's where tobacco rumor comes from, but I think Sam's will keep it because Costco won't have it.
Since when is tobacco included. This has never even been rumored. Sounds like you just created this right now
Where did u get the info on all positions being eliminated??
