Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Lay-Offs

So, it appears we are all going to be out of a job by the end of this year, if not sooner?

Also, it is interesting to note, if your retirement doesn't start until after the first of the year, you still don't get to participate in the bonus they were talking about.

Just like the majority to start running scared before the facts are out there.

I have been with Humana for 3 years. I had two strokes and pacemaker placement in March 2017. I submitted an expense report, and they denied it. Also, my assigned "Coach", previously one was fired, will not respond to my emails. Apparently there is a time constraint, how ever I can't find it and my coach will not answer my emails. All I want is honesty and transparency from Humana.

Those told to be ready.....HCM RN or SS? Does anyone know how they choose who is laid off? Do they look at performance, salary, length of employment? I thought they were just hiring a lot of hcm rn not long ago. But I have noticed an increase for in home care recently.

I was in the second round of lay offs and still have not found a job. Unless you are a nurse the competition is daunting. Start applying for jobs but more important start networking now, don't wait until you are laid off. During the holidays hiring slows down if not stops - good luck to all of you!

All the budgets across the org are being trimmed. Management being forced to layoff folks because they have the get their FTE count down to fit into the budget. Folks taking early retirement will lessen the layoffs. It is better some will have happy exit. Others will not be so fortunate. :(

Your job is not protected from layoffs while on FMLA! You cannot be fired for being on FMLA, but you can still be let go. It's not a shield in any way. Sorry!

At least you'll have plenty of time to spend with your family over the holidays. Presents might be a little thin, however. Might I suggest home made creates and baked goods.

Regarding FMLA, it depends. Your job is protected while on FMLA...unless they can somehow prove that the cut was planned prior to your FMLA starting. Depending on what is happening behind the scenes, there is really no way to know at this point. You may want to check with HR4U to get more specific information so you are prepared either way.

I don't think it's a guilt thing, just a communication of what's happening. I'm glad they didn't leave out the part about more layoffs in the communication. I can deal with reality much better than I can deal with being told "no more 2017 layoffs" then blindsided.

I highly doubt leadership was trying to guilt anyone into early retirement! We are all intelligent enough to know that each early retirement accepted could lessen layoffs. Get a grip! We are overreacting!

Or crafty wording of guilt that a routine time for early retirement you choose or don't choose may impact someone else's job? Not nice to tie the two together that way, taking a positive thing and adding that negative to it

I know this question was asked before but I may be in this situation come November. If you are on a FMLA, can you get laid off during FMLA or how would that affect early retirement offers? I will start a FMLA next month.

I agree this layoff will be substantial meaning it will be across the organization.

No, I think you are right below poster, the letter on HI makes it clear this is not a typical business as usual announcement. This appears as if it is going to be substantial.

Good news is, the country is not in a downhill slide, it's actually improving considerably. Just Look at the stock market for one. Bad news is, the health insurance industry is imploding. But, there should be some pretty decent jobs out there, outside of Humana due to the improving economy.

In light of the letter on HI is there anyone who still feels this early retirement is routine and for tax purposes? Seems the OP of that other thread was right

HCCP HCM? Maybe the coach is just jumping to conclusions. That has been known to happen.

I'm in HCCP and our coach seemed pretty freaked out today as well. We shall see I guess.

Oh my. That's a surprise, HCM ...any other info as to why you all are being impacted? Is it the roster issue? With all the graduations, it almost seems like in major areas, they may transition some telephonic staff to in home staff?

For those of you that have said your coaches have told you to be ready, what roles are you in?

I don't feel nurses will be sacred this time around. If half of our rosters move to monitored how many of us do they need

But folks and employers are SO broke to contribute to the ACA, regardless, so the country is on a downhill slide anyways..., hence, the "mass-layoffs" in ALL sectors..

The end of the "ACA" (mandated health insurance) is a "nail-in-coffin" for the good 'ol U.S.A., hence why the GOP is hesitant on revoking it... it accounts for OVER a 3'rd (1/3 or 33%) of the economy...

Has anyone heard of nurses that are going to be affected? Is this layoffs thru Hah or ALL of Humana?

Post ID: @gtf+PrqbqvC

They already told us there were more layoffs coming at last town hall - that they know layoffs are personal and they will try to minimize them. This just puts it in writing, I guess.

I'm actually glad they aren't giving us a false sense of security, so for those of us who need a back up plan, we know not to be lax about it.

Your coaches probably have zero ----- to give at this point and are trying to be candid.

Yes, it says: there will be "additional involuntary workforce reductions" over the next 60 days.

So do you have specific information regarding layoffs in Humana in the HCCP program?

by

Post ID: @qhe+PrqbqvC

I have said this a number of times but of course nobody wants to believe anything that doesn't benefit them or is not good news.

The Medical System and industry in America is collapsing right now in real time. Obamacare was all about keeping it afloat just a little while longer thru massive spikes in premiums, but even that was not enough in the long run.

Check "Latest Posts" and spend some time there. You will find many medical and pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and organizations doing huge layoffs. Even big Pharma has laid waste to its R and D departments because they know there is no future in the medical system.

Anyone been telling you America is in big trouble? Things are going to get bad?

Stop ignoring them or laughing at them, they know of what they speak. Turn off your TV's and start paying attention to what's going on because it's about to get very, very scary.

Time to wake up people.
