Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Stop with mixed messages!

The REAL problem is senior management coming up with solutions, such as "The Winning Formula" and "Earn The Right." We spent millions of dollars getting our folks through these classes that teach them de-escalation and sales techniques, as well as other soft skills. They leave knowing what the customer needs always comes first.

They get back to their stores, and all that goes out the window. Senior management tells store leaders they need more HUM/SMB/TMP/ARD adds...and down the line. Which in turn has GMs telling specialists, which has them going back and selling the same exact way we always have...loading up customers with a bunch of stuff they don't want/need.

I want to shout down every senior leader who says "growth is always king." No, it's not, a$shole...the CUSTOMER is king. Treat them (and employees) right, and they'll be loyal. Abuse and use them, and they'll be gone, en masse....from Big Red, over to Big Magenta.

Stop with the mixed messages to the troops from senior leadership. Decide what we want to be...either a world-class, well-liked and respected service provider...or Comcast.

If you’re honest you will fail?

That’s a great mindset to have. So you believe the only way to sell to anyone is by lying to them? You are the reason why sales people have bad raps because of mind sets like yours.

Don’t listen to this schmuck, if you want to earn customers repeat business and referrals being honest is the best way

Hearing all these snowflakes in here talk about guests and how they should be treated is a joke. It’s sales. If you are honest you will fail. Those training were a joke. Growth is king. It pays the bills. Doing tech support does not.

The origin of the original ETR was basically how to treat our customers better. We were dead last in customer service scores in retail according to JD Power rankings.

We spent millions upon millions on ETR in 2012 and guess what? Nothing changed. Everyone went back and did exactly the same and it was BAU.

Here we are 5 years later and again...it's still the same. We, for too long, relied upon our network as a key differentiator. Now that our competition has caught up, we're still relying on "the network."

We have an innovation center in California that has some amazing new and exciting products on their way to guests. SWEET!

You know what guests want? Deals! Good Prices! Extras! Goodies! None of which we offer...without our competition offering it first.

Instead of constantly tacking on fees and reducing service in-store (like the vile airline industry), maybe we could try something innovative...like being the first to eliminate some fees (like T-Mo has done in the past) and actually providing things like tech support in our stores again.

Verizon Wireless will not continue to win unless we learn how to once again compete in this space. And we won't win unless we're innovative with guest-centric services.

I didn't get to the winning formula staining because it was cancelled twice. I know the Crux of the training but our mansgers insisted we still do it their way. 3 options, one of them jacked up really high to make the option we "want" them to get look much better. It never worked for me cause it was disengenuous.

Now that I've insisted to follow what was actually said in winning formula: "address what they came in for first, be transparent and you don't need a 3 option solution sheet anymore" I'm back to selling more effectively and faster.

We don't do content transfer in our store anymore and I could not be happier. People can easily do it themselves. You can buy online and consequently set your stuff up at home.

The problem is Verizon doeskin have any core values. They love to bring up core values so often because the organization has ZERO. Pretending is the name of the game at big red. Pretending is what got Verizon here in the first place. If Verizon had any values, the rank of so called "leadership" would have been laid off years ago. But because Verizon is a rotten organization you've got the bottom of the loser barrel calling all the shots. Marni and Marissa are good examples of the high cost of mediocrity. Somehow people like them get a pass but the country is in an uproar over NFL kneegate. Kap kneeled and walked away from a 14 million dollar contract because of his values. Marni makes decision after decision that costs people their livelihoods and she wont walk away or admit failure. Nobody's mad at her though. Shes still a "rising star". . The economy is failing and alot of good people are going to be in a bad spot . People in sales are just trying to earn a living and take care of their families like the rest of us. Its a shame to hear so many cheer for their lost income when we all know they are asked to sell spoiled fruit.

The real problem is Verizon corporate stores were way over built over the past decade. They just need to close 50% of them to start with.

Put your faith in senior leadership and everything will be ok. Verizon is ran by some of the most brilliant minds in the wireless industry and hopefully that gives you peace of mind.

RIP VZW retail.

Customers are finished with the chop shops. They’ve talked and now buy their devices online or third party for tax and act fee only then use the store reps to do transfers that they could google. Every customers response…”I’d rather have you guys do it”. Managers believe these customers will buy pull thru once they are in the store. Discounts, rerates and more “discovery” are thrown at customers and they still walk. COMMISSIONS WILL GO AWAY SOON! SEVERANCE WILL DECREASE SIGNIFICANTLY! ALL SMART STORES ARE SAFE BUT OTHERS WILL GO INDIRECT! UNIONIZE OR GTFO RIGHT NOW!!!
