It is amazing how quickly a laid off person becomes fairly nonexistent. No one will contact you to see how you are doing, no one will reach out to you.
None of your so-called friends and co-workers will mention your name.

Is the poster a victim of a layoff? If so, and none of your office friends have contacted you, then your "friends" may not be any more than fair-weather friends. I do agree with 1vwn but in a different way; in order to have a freind you have to be a friend, or so the saying goes. I work remote from my home and only rarely got to have face time with co-workers in an office that GE is officially closing today. Out of that office of 15 people I have several that I consider friends and that I have kept up with via text and phone and hope to do so long as I am able.
So, original poster, even if you have been laid off have you reached out to anyone?

All of us are just zits on the a$$ of the company. Nobody is special; all are replaceable. Once you realize this truth your stress lelels will plummet and you will begin to enjoy life.
This is the passive-negative viewpoint. Others might not want to know the superficial people he's left behind and look forward to the next chapter in their lives.
