Now, now, @1zcu, @mdu, @yyx, and @udd. @1gzk makes a valid point. Perhaps it's not so far-fetched? If I recall correctly, Charles Montgomery Burns' bought back the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant for $50 million, shortly after having sold to two German investors, Hans and Fritz, for $100 million. Once these gentlemen realized the shape the plant was in, they were eager to unload it and sell it back. These things do, apparently happen.

With what money? Verizon is broke.

Maybe just raid the union pension and pay for it with pension money. I think that is a good idea.

Well depending on the value of assets they sold and the price to purchase Frontier, it may be a financially sound decision. You get back your assets for maybe a fraction of what they would cost while also bringing in a new revenue stream. Hell they could probably by back Frontier then sell off portions here and there and be in the positive. I have no clue, just speculation.

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read on here. Why would Verizon look to buyback all the fGTE areas that they’ve sold off to Frontier since 2009, plus the original Frontier areas? Not only does it make no sense, it makes negative sense. This goes against everything that Verizon has pushed toward for the past decade.

@kpx - I just shipped my pants. Didn't Verizon just sell to Frontier! Are they f'ing stoopid?

Wait .... I know the answer to that.

Keep drinking the kool-aid VTeamers. And don't forget to swallow. Lowell really likes that.

That is a ridiculous price to pay, although I believe Verizon owns quite a bit of Frontier stock. I could see them doing this only in that it would give VZ a foothold to build out for the 5G network they are desperate to build.

Frontier is a turd. On the technology side they have nothing to show except for what they paid too much for, and they have awful customer ratings/reviews. Culture wise, it is not a good fit.

It is being talked about. This would be another great purchase for us!

Frontier wanted to buy the wireline side a few years ago along the I95 corridor but Verizon wanted to keep the fios and that killed the deal. Frontier didn't want Verizon in the central offices. I doubt verizon would sell the fios now, especially with a major build on the horizon.

Frontier is a few years away from bankruptcy.. They couldn't buy anything right now.

While nothing is impossible, I would seriously doubt it. Since Verizon sold assets to Frontier, I would not think they would want to buy back those assets plus even more.

Do you have a link? While it does seem unlikely let's ponder the fact that Verizon does like to buy companies that are falling apart while at the same time emphatically denying it.
