Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell Beyond reprehensible In PR

They don't have food, clean water, power, gasoline, or communications. All the stop lights are gone!!!!! Hospitals are not running. Bridges are out.

It's a huge disaster and Honeywell wants to put a strain on this humanitarian crisis by putting 1000 people on the roads to get in the way of relief efforts and burn gas.

If Honeywell was helping the people of PR by making, selling, or providing a service they need right now that would be ok but Honeywell provides nothing to the community right now.

A new low even for Honeywell.

Honeywell has not forced anyone to return, continues to pay employees and is flying supplies in. I see managers genuinely worried about the people in PR. I saw Bravos today for people who worked to secure the facilities. We have enough real issues with Honeywell, there is no need for fake news about something really positive the company is doing.

They are being asked to check in if they can. They can get supplies as the 757 was down over the weekend and fully loaded with things the team will need. Why do you keep trying to turn this into something it is not? How else are they supposed to get supplies? FedEx or UPS? Honeywell is doing the right thing so stop trying to use it as your political platform.

No, I saw they were required to go to the plant today. Why should they have to "check in" at a time like this? Should their own family be notified first? Shouldn't they worry about their own immediate needs? Not waist gas and trying to drive hundreds, yes hundreds of miles just to check in? Some employees live in San Juan and normally have over 2 hour commute each way. A few live farther.

If Honeywell really cared they would work with the local government to support relief efforts. This is why only one person is in charge during an emergency so others don't get in the way.

Employees are not required to go to work tomorrow. They are requested to go to the Aguadilla plant if possible on Tuesday (Oct 3) to check in (all employees are still not accounted for). They are not reporting for work, they are getting info and hopefully some of the supplies Honeywell is bringing in on their own planes.

No matter how messed up some of the cost action/dividend increases are, Honeywell is working hard to help employees.

I saw another post saying the PR employees are required to go to work if possible tomorrow. This is such bull sh!t. I have read some first hand accounts of how it is in Rincon and Aguadilla. Honeyhell employees shouldn't be on the road interfering with relief efforts. Honeyhell shouldn't be taking up resources just to bring in a trivial amount of supplies.

OP doesn't have a clue. Honeywell is doing the right thing on this. Upper management have gone to the FAA to get permission for humitarian flights, try to get supplies to employees. The check in at Aguadilla is not a mandate to start work it is trying to find everyone and make sure their needs are attended to. And yes of course the goal is to get everyone back to work.

The OP doesn't have a clue. The corporate jet has been down twice with water, food and other supplies for employees who can get to the site. Logistics is bad in PR everywhere - don't you read the news? Hard to communicate to everyone when almost all communications on the island are down. Haven't heard any confirmation that Honeywell is bringing people back on the planes though I heard it has been requested in a few cases. They are trying to get the site up and use it as a distribution point of supplies to employees.

1000 people on the roads in Aguadilla were there are no traffic lights and critical supplies are trying to get through creates problems for the local community. Shame.

For once honeywell is trying to do the right thing. Those folks will welcome anything that helps return them to a normal routine. Satellite communications, airconditioning, water, food generators all going down. Bravo honeywell

Evacuated so they could get back to work right away?

How is opening the plant and telling people to come to work helping? Gas is in short supply and the roads don't have stop lights. You would just get in the way of relief efforts.

This is a LIE!!!

We have evacuated people, including family members. A 757 will evacuate more this weekend.

Engineers have been asking to return to work and Honeywell is trying to reopen Monday.

Honeywell has been bad recently, but they have been amazing on this issue!

They are told to come in on Monday.

This is bogus. As much as I dislike TM and D, they are doing the exact opposite. There is no expectation that people show up on Monday and they are actively working plans to keep things moving while the PR team gets back up on its feet. As messed up as Honeywell is, this is an area where they are doing well. Shame on you for trying to exploit a bad thing to just get people worked up.

I am very doubtful about your claims.

Honeywell is using their company owned aircraft to bring in supplies, sat phones, and cash. They are also giving PR employees free rides back to the states if they want to leave.

That's more than anyone else is doing. I applaud Honeywell for trying to help these people. They care more for them than their own federal government.

Unless they can magically fix the situation. The workers there should do what's best for them and tell their upper management to get lost. The fuel situation is really bad so unless Honeywell invents teleportation by the end of this weekend they shouldn't expect people to show up on monday.

I should say they expect everyone to be at work Monday.
