Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

These changes can't last

This is ridiculous and unsustainable in the long run. Not sure which genius at Sam's Club upper management thought of it, but he/she needs to be fired. I give it two years max before we have to revert to the old and tested system. It might not be perfect, but it sure is better than what is coming. So, anybody else willing to take a shot at when they'll admit they screwed up and reverse course?

We're kidding ourselves if we think they'll change anything back. This is the future of they're digital age. If anything they'll run buildings with minimal mgr and ALL part timers. Home office already wishes members would only use scan & go, click & pull or self check out. But preferably the 1st two. Shrink means nothing anymore. They'll automate all they can. Outsource jobs or have home office do them. Then they'll probably close clubs to use as area "shipping locations " for their future delivery business. It's all about competing with amazon now. They'll steal Costco ideas if they think it will trim things and save money. They're going forward, or they're going under. But Sam's as we know it is a thing of the past.

same here. this is just a way to get rid of long time higher paid associates. been in the works for a long time. as holes prob already have a plan to bring some of the jobs back just not a definitive time. give it a yr then maybe another yr to see where things are.

Sam's Club has a typical cycle of new crazy plans followed by a "Back to Basics". Just stick with the basics.

Absolutely agree with your observation. I have a feeling the same positions will return with a new title, less pay, and only part time openings. Sad to see our long term associates who have so much knowledge be booted out the dorr like the job they've been doing for 25 years was meaningless.

They will revert back to the old system. Not because they made a mistake, because this is just a means of getting the older higher paid associates out the door. A lot of money to be saved this way.
