Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle Customer

Just want to share with everyone here. A disclaimer first: My company is going through cuts, we have a lively board here - I do not work for Oracle. Anyhow, I've been harrased by an Oracle "Database and Cloud Business Consultant" who wants to chat about our "strategic imperatives". OK, fine enough, we spend a ton on Oracle maintenance every year (no new purchaes in last 5 years) - so this makes sense. I am running a 45 people department, my time is scarce - so, I am balancing that with the need to talk with someone at Oracle who wants to know our 'strategic impetatives' - I look the gentleman up on LinkedIn, just to gauge how valuable this contact may be, how meaningful this discussion may turn out to be...

So, this "Database and Cloud Business Consultant" has been with Oracle for about a three months now. Dandy. Before the Oracle gig we are looking at a resource with 3 months as a tax accountant Intern with a pipe supply company, 3 months with a small healhcare provider working on outreach and a 2 counselor at a day school (summer camps). The reps degree checks out, a decent school with MIS major, graduated in June 2017.

Are you guys f---ing kidding me?

I almost feel sorry for this kid. Probably a perfectly nice kid who got himself into something he could not have anticipated (yes, the oracle recruiter tell untruths to earn their commissions) and now has the bejesus kicked out of him to make his quota of calls/ emails/ and of course sales. Oh, well kid, you'll be looking for a new job very soon and will land at a Much better place. Learning experience worth remembering

The OP here again.

As some of you predicted, got another one this morning, he's asking for the same thing.

A brand new graduate out of Austin (Bus Dev)...

OK now...

LE, u useless bum, there are no savings in laying off productive field sales people to replace them with HR trolls to abuse customers on this and other fora. Scary how little you know or about sale, LE, but it does explain what's going on at oracle.

Dear customer, go f yourself for complaining

LE, you really shouldn't attack the customers. Bad for business you know. You never know which customer might be buying you your next island.

Interesting game to see how quickly oracle has mobilized to try to discredit this story, looks and feel like DJT self serving tweets about PR. Customers ignoring calls from the newbie sales bill pen and cancelling support, is where oracle gets hurt so they are desperate to push out some fake news to discredit such stories. Laughable oracle behavior, but then again this is LE, MH, and Sc and they minions we're dealing with here.

A total lose - lose situation created by greedy A:holes called LE, MH, SC. Should be obvious by now that they don't care about customers. My advise to you would be to cancel oracle support and find a 3rd party instead. Oracle support is now a total ware of money, as competent support people have been laid off and replaced by newbies in far away places who are not capable of helping you with the most basic things because they lack the competence

@Pvz6QGl-1fzt,

maybe you are a LE, MH or SC s?cker ?

Maybe ?

Maybe the 17000 oracle employees were layed off by a fake Google HR b@st@rd to spread misinformation before OOW.

Maybe ?

OP: welcome to the new Oracle way of doing business with customers. next step is to let you talk with an Oracle chatbot backed by our fantastic autonomous DB. though maybe, now that I think of it, that would be more interesting than talking to a NCG selling by phone something he doesn't know or understand to a customer he doesn't know or understand.

It’s the process that’s f---ed up at Oracle and the f---ing do nothing managers looking to create more work for the employees and customers. Let’s get rid of some managers and hire more engineers to create and resolve customers’ problems.

This website is owned by Google? If it is, maybe the OP is a Google employee who just spreads misinformation before OOW, or maybe a Microsoft or an Amazon employee. Any Oracle customer can escalate the issue to the manager of so called cold caller, and stop the calls that way.

Dear customer, go f yourself for complaining. As you see on this board the

company doesn't value the employees, how do you expect they would

value the customers?

If you were an Oracle employee recently laid off, congratulations, you didn't deserve any better (many others did).

If you still are an Oracle employee, I hope you decide to leave or your manager selects you for the nex RIF.

The OP and others customers paid your salary. Treat them accordingly.

OP, It's not just Oracle but the rest of Silicon Valley who is using this enhanced telesales approach. Oracle is simply more aggressive about it, google mark hurd and his digital sales strategy. Waiting to see the backlash when customers like yourself hit an overdose of such cold calls and start blocking everybody in general.

Also have you opened an SR lately? Might as well cancel Oracle support because the support you get is atrocious.

@ydt and @eyr - I am the OP - thanks for chiming in. I was suspecting something like the narrative you outlined - I was not following your board closely but scanning a few 'active' threads I believe I have a good idea in what direction the executives are pushing this. Anyhow, blocked the number and told the front desk not to get any calls through - what a waste of time, there is no way in hell they will sell anything like this - you guys know very well that nobody drops $100k, not to mention a million, on a cold call pitch by a recent college grad - good luck with this sales approach....

That's the new oracle for you. And this kid may by now be one of the more qualified and experienced people around! But, hey, he doesn't cost oracle much And if he doesn't meet his ridiculous cloud sales quota this quarter he'll be gone and you'll be getting a call from a newbie. Enjoy

No, no kidding. Oracle is laying off experienced field sales consultants and replacing them with new college hires. By the way, you can expect to get several calls from people like that from Oracle, each on different sales teams, none of whom are communicating or coordinating. The "strategic imperative" he's talking about is whether he can get a quick sale in Oracle's cloud products. He is going to want to sell you one of Larry's new all-in-one packages, where you pay millions up front and get to use any Oracle cloud service - none of which work very well vs. competing cloud platforms. (Look at Oracle's low "Ability to Execute" rating in the Gartner IaaS Magic Quadrant) So ... how much can I put you down for? Just email him your $3,000,000 purchase order!
