Just got out of moscone, LE spoke only about database and compared database on AWS. Intel took the stage before. No mention of M8 or sparc by LE.

same at the "Cloud super-mega-ultra Event" done some time ago by LE himself.
SPARC is not even history, is simply a closed case.
O is no more interested in being an on-prem provider, be it SPARC or x86, the new mantra is cloud.
and so of course you don't need an engineering dpt developing HW. only Exa-something will survive in the foreseeable future, and only thanks to Exa-something CM, while big O shift also those customers to pure cloud.
