Massive layoffs in the US will take place in the month of November. Here are some key things you can do to make it more difficult to terminate you and extend your time:

File a compliance case - if you are aware of a compliance matter or feel you are victim of inappropriate actions, file a case ASAP. They will not be able to terminate you until this is resolved. Of course, this needs to be truthful.

Family Medical Leave Act - if you have a serious medical condition that is being flared up by the current state of affairs, go on leave. Most salaried employees will be out on full pay and they cannot give you a layoff until you return.
