VZ's Future State: Fewer Employees, Lower pay, and Lower Severance

Here's food for thought: they are changing how directors are being compensated to reduce costs - a bit higher salaries but lower long-term incentive. This is because the stock is s---ing wind. Lowell and the board will do whatever it takes to maintain the dividend and get to that 10B in cost savings.

So three things happen - fewer employees, lower pay, and lower severance to help maintain the dividend. Given there are zero new areas where the company can make money (including the Oath cluster f**k) its going to be a sad, sad death spiral.

In the meantime, the patricians will hide in Building 4 at Basking Ridge will ride the gravy train as long as possible before they are fired, but say it's because they want to move in new directions. That's the Walden story.

VZ is paying at least 40% higher salary than other companies.

Lower long-term incentive just means management has come to reality and is looking at Verizon as less of a growth company. I wouldn't read too much more into any compensation plans. Of course it spins up the workers who don't know jack about these sorts of things. All it means is that execs don't see a lot of growth on the horizon and aren't willing to throw unattainable goals at their guys too much bring up salary some. Vz still a great utility stock.
