Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The economy and Kmart ruined Sears.

I worked part-time in my town for extra cash. My store closed 3 years ago. They have a hometown Sears now. Franchise where only appliances, tools, and yard equipment now.

Went down hill when Kmart purchased Sears. Sorry, to see Sears and Kmart go. Walmart is king now

Price-matched purchases don't allow using points/coupons/discounts towards that purchase, although you do earn points for it. However, apparently price changes entered as an override (intended for things like signage errors) do allow using points/coupons/discounts.

So whats the sence of getting points that will fall off, go away if i dont use them, i dont buy much from sears, just my work clothes, my loyalties to this company are gone like my discount, not to mention this company ,well the retailer side of it will be gone soon. Might as well buy from a company that will be around for a while , and service s---s trying to get them to show up when scheduled

"we'll match their price"

Why bother with the hassle? Why not just buy it from the place that already has the low price if the item and service are comparable?

@1auk. You could have price matched and gotten points. I don't understand why anyone working for a company wants harm to come to the company that is feeding him.....Odd thinking in my mind. You may think you are not paid well and maybe you aren't, but if you aren't it is up to you to make a change in your life. I don't know. I am always grateful I have a job.....that is how I was raised. If I felt I was being taken advantage of, I would try to look for something else and if I am not finding something else than I need to look in the mirror and ask myself why.

When we had our employee discount we could not price match. It was one or the other. Just like we could not use coupons back then but now we can. For being an ASM, you ahould know that.

Not true! When we had the discount you could not get both the price match and the employee discount, it was always one or the other!

@1wwq Maybe its also to prove a point. One of the worst moves off Sears is when they got rid of out discount it was really disgusting when employees of the few perks we ever got at Sears was an associate discount and they ended up giving us more points. I honestly don't want points I want a discount. If the ASM that bought washer still had his discount he would of gone and priced matched it along getting his associate discount.

A lot of people are just fed up how Sears has treated us and we are not entitled to support Sears by spending the money we get paid in the company. We have every right to spend it wherever we want.

The economy hit everyone not just Sears. Sears lagged it they didn't innovate so it affects them you need to invest in the company to keep making money. When you don't invest properly your just going to go down in the long run.

@Q2jWUC2-1auk If the washer is cheaper at jcpenney, why not get a price match? Its that simple. Plus get the points back. Idk just saying.

The 80s ate Sears breakfast, the 90s ate Sears lunch and the 00s ate Sears dinner. So during the 10s Sears has been starving to death!

LOL, I'm an ASM at a sears store, I am buying a washer and dryer at JCP , because its 100 cheaper, if i still had my discount instead of the stupid points i would not even think of it. Sears is completely hurting themselves

Both Kmart and Sears would have been gone had they not merged. All this merger did though was just buy more borrowed time, that's it.

No, what he is saying is without the help of Eddie and Kmart, Sears would have ceased to exist by 2008 (the financial meltdown)

So what you are saying is that over a period of 12 years, with the help of Eddie and Kmart, Sears went from being "knee deep in Kaka" to being eyeball deep in Kaka. Well thank you Eddie and Kmart for your splendid assistance. Without you, Sears would never have reached that pinnacle of success.

True. Sears was teetering on bankruptcy so why blame Kmart or Eddie? They gave you another 12 years and counting
