It is not a bonus, it's in lieu of yearly raise. You're not getting a bonus....youre getting the shaft in the long term. Your pay won't go up at all in 2018, and when (if) it does again, it'll be at a lower amount because it'll be calculated on your current pay rate! Quit calling it a bonus!! Also, FYI, it's not guaranteed for anyone not laid off. You get it if you meet your expectation for yearly eval AND if your leader budgeted for it. Less than 1/3 of people got a raise this year. Figure on even less having the budget for it for 2018.

I am happy someone else realized this. Whoever came up with this approach is a genius. Let’s keep their pay the same for another year so if they get a raise it will be at the same amount. Shafted in the end. Stop going around with blinders on. It benefits the company and not you.
