Thread regarding Sears layoffs

It is nice to have a site that can provide details and commentary about how a company is transforming

Thanks to Popcorn for posting on Monday things that were announced on Thursday. I am not sure why many people are still in denial about what is happening before their eyes. People are not here to try to scare anyone or make them feel bad. Generally people who have a handle and insight on what is happening are eager to inform here on this site. Many people posting here don't have inside information. They are just posting what is public knowledge and can conclude what will have to happen. It seems though that a few posts over the last year or so have had some privileged info and it has been shared or you can read between the lines. So don't be bitter. The facts are what they are. You currently have a job and should continue to do your job while you are here with integrity. Their are only a handful of people that truly know how long your employemnt will continue and I don't think they would waste their time posting on this site.

Agreed: good post and replies. I was frustrated about the commission structure and posted on Pebble to which there were numerous replies. My manager had a "chat" with me. I rarely pist on Pebble since. I use it as a tool for additional info (ie exclusions from sales). I am continually flabergasted that the majority on Pebble don't keep current re "Transformation"...and don't read or even seek out POGs, sale info and plain ole internal publications relative to daily departmental operations.

It's transforming like 'The Fly': https://i0.wp.com/universalmonstersuniverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/the-fly-1986-21514394.jpg

@1bac Excellent post. I agree with everything you said including pointing out an anti Corp bias. I think a distinction needs to be made between a person working at HE doing an office job and Directors, Officers, Executive VP types. The names you read in the news. Those are the people whose conscience and integrity I question.

@1bpn - Yes, "the paranoia is alarming" amongst the corporate trolls and cheerleaders that haunt this site. For them, the propaganda machine called Pebble, is the only source of SHLD information and/or communication that is permissible. They attack and demean any other source of information since it is not ideologically pure according to the directives of their Dear Leader Eddie.

And you have to remember too that many on here just post with sarcasm as that helps them out.

Good post. For me, I just don't understand why posters are attacked when they ask a question. The paranoia is alarming. I asked a question about month ago about our local kmart pharmacy closing, ( and before you ask, yes, I am a retiree from the company ) and you would have thought I was a mole. Posters demanding to know why I care, who I am, how I found out....Good God, I care because I worked there for 40 years, I am retired from kmart, and I found out by way of a sign posted at the store. Ease up. Everyone isn't the enemy.

I almost think that this is a Pebble After Hours, which isn't a bad thing. On Pebble, you cannot share information or ask questions that could put Sears or Kmart in a negative light, whether intentional or unintentional. Everything is sanitized. Once in a great while a "negative" post makes its way through, but you can bet that district, regional and corporate would be all over those in a New York Minute and would demand that the manager of that employee writes them up. I've seen it happen.

I have to say that I've been getting a bit of information on here that eventually came in handy in one way or another. All the big changes were mentioned on here way before I would hear of it in an email, a conference call or during a meeting, if at all. For example, I learned of the loss of Whirlpool THREE DAYS before we got the memo at the store level. That is a big deal. The "venting" posts are insightful, too, and helps me to realize that I am not alone. A lot of the times the "venting" shares my thoughts right to the point, because the SAME THING is happening at my store...no hours, no payroll, no merchandise, the building is falling apart, stress levels are too high...etc. I imagine many others are thinking "wait a minute, that sounds like MY store".

Unfortunately a few people have hopped on here who have posted lies and misinformation or just plain nonsense, whether to downplay the mounting troubles at Sears Holdings or to make things seem worse at Sears Holdings than they really are. They write about mass layoffs that never happened, bankruptcy bound to happen on certain dates (which have come and gone) or, conversely, how Sears is doing really well and anyone who disagrees is a whiner. It has gone both ways. I'm betting that some of those posters have never worked here. A good telltale sign is if they aren't using internal lingo. My question is: who are these people and why would they waste their time on here?

There's also a strong sense of animosity towards corporate level employees, which is unfortunate. Not everyone in corporate is making all of the decisions, for better or worse, while raking in a six or seven figure salary. Most of the corporate employees and middle managers are just like us, working this job rank and file with little to no influence or say in how the company is run. I know a couple, they are just as stressed/concerned/worried/upset/dejected/etc as we are at the store.
