Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Blowout Sale sure brought people in

My sears store was busy right at opening today! Haven’t seen this many customers in a long time!

It’s probably too little too late but it was nice seeing the store busy again!

@1rsq One thing is store being busy another one is are we actually selling. I was checking sales and before I left (I say 3 hours) we were still under a bit I don't think we made it so don't let a busy store make you think that your selling a lot. Hell I had a customer that the only reason she was their was to just spend points not a dime of her money. Sad thing is when I inputted her shop her way points she had like $4 bucks I explained to her that some points expire and she said she knows. But I think she might of been a day late on the whole points from the whole "bonanza" that they are only valid for 14 days.

My store was busy, but at 6 pm it just became dead i doubt we made to goal or last year. Might be close. What is sad is how under staff my department was. On this events we use to have about 4 people overlapping each. This time we just had one coverage and it was crazy busy. Also majority of the deals in the department werent deals they were cheaper last month, but people assume this are great deals because of an extra 10 percent off.

@iqal I disagree. So I went shopping last night for Family and Friends. I was prepared to see what looked like a store going out of business, and it didn't look like that at all. The signs looked nice and festive to me, and there was Christmas music playing. Not the gloom and doom negative going out of business sale like many of you are saying. I had fun shopping last night.

When i get calls at the store, people asking they heard we're going to close, i say no, they say tge heard all the closing signs are up ! Thats exactly what sears planned, so thats why you see so many people in your stores. Not because sears is back, its sears liquidation.... ooops i mean holiday blowout sale

Haha. It's too late. The end is near. Every person that steps foot in a Sears and Kmart is an idiot. Every troll or person who thinks the end can be saved is an idiot. Open your eyes...it's already over. This is the start of it.

I find it odd that we have foregone a Christmas theme like in years past, like "More Merry" or "Bring The Sleigh" . Now the theme screams liquidation. So much red and yellow, no reference to the holidays other than "Holiday Blowout".

I don't know if it means anything. I guess we will find out after the holidays and the end of Q4.

We were busy too but it was because people thought we were closing. I used to do "going out of business" and "cash raising sales" years ago in the midwest and we used the same signing, the same colors, and the same formula so I know why people thought we were closing. It was good to be busy again though regardless what people thought or believed. Now if Sears would just schedule for it and give us the hours and the staffing so we could really make some sales and money.

I love seeing customers again !

I just wish management would schedule more than 1 person at night to straighten entire store and put stuff away because it’s impossible for 1 person to clean fitting rooms and return items to correct rack/table, clean cacs and put items back, on both floors, refold items on tables throughout store!

It is far too late. It's only bringing people in because people are easily duped whenever they see the word "SALE!!!" in bright letters. And they are only doing the sales so that they can get rid of as much crap as possible so that they liquidate their inventory. From what I remember, when they do the "BLOWOUT" sales its usually a bad sign that the store is about to shut down.
