I agree - Oracle is a pretty sh--ty company.

But does this justify the posting of comments such as "Huge Layoffs coming to Oracle. Get out before its too late" ?

Surely this is simply idle speculation.

People who post on this site may not be telling the truth.

People who post on this site may well be just speculating.

People who post on this site may well be frustrated.

People who post on this site may well be unhinged.

People who post on this site may well be posting misinformation deliberately aimed at confusing workers who are worried for their jobs/careers.

Take all the postings - apart from this one, of course - with a 'pinch of salt'.

People who post on this site could be:

  • oracle HR,

  • some narcissistic weirdo manager at Oracle who wants to manipulate his thugs into staying put,

  • LE, MH, SC, TK, etc.

  • some other jerk who doesn't want you to know what a sh--ty company you're working for

It's a sh--ty company, they are laying people off, the budget says so, DUH!

Think for yourselves, you can look around and see what's going on. There are much better places to work. It's easy to become complacent and just have a job, but realize there are better things out there for you.

So here is something I’m wondering about: why has oracle HR after a long absence from this site all of a sudden become much more active? Is it because the earnings call is approaching? Or is us because there are layoffs coming? Or is there something else going on? Thoughts ?

Don't fall for the Fake News. No need to worry. Just do your jobs and when you least suspect it you will be laid off without warning.

I don't know anyone at Oracle who would post false information to deliberately harm their colleagues! I'm sure some of what's posted here is exaggerated by disgruntled employees and laid off ex-employees, and some is exaggerated by Oracle HR/PR or fanbois. But there is plenty in the public hard news and financial reports to cause any employee who thinks about it to panic and look for another job.

Cowardly of oracle - LE, MH, SC - not to have the integrity to announce how many people they are laying off and when. Other SV compnies, those run by adults, do jus that, but clearly to much to ask of the 3 scumbags running oracle. Sad as their friend DJT would say

$1.1 Bn = 17,000 - 22,000 people laid off depending on comp/ severance assumptions. 7,000 laid off on FY18, means another 12,000 - 15,000 to go. Check next 10Q to update unused restructuring reserve and revise calc

The $1.1 billion restructuring reserve is for layoff costs so the separation costs don’t go through the P&L when layoffs occur. Feel free to do the math how many person-months of comp that is and therefore how many people oracle expects to lay off given a reasonable assumption about how much it’s going to pay each laid off employer on severance.

@Q7N5j6l fake news? Do you look at the earnings report? Have you spoken to anyone in management who monitor the forecast and bookings. I am one of these managers and I promise you no fake news here. The numbers tell the real story. Oracle will take their time triggering the layoffs to avoid WARN and inviting unwanted press. I think the reverse is true in that they want to encourage people to actively protect their own interests and be wise to what is coming. Don’t be left without a job as there are some great opportunities and it does take time for people in management to find their next gig.

@Q7N5j6l that's very interesting, and thanks for posting. Seems that someone in Oracle is starting to realize that too many good and skilled people are on their fast way out, and that Oracle still needs them for some time before switching to zero-SC. Loosing too many good people means that onprem business will collapse abruptly, and cloud business (emh.. well.. so-called-business) is not ramping up as expected, actually a slow down is expected by SC in the next quarters. If you combine the collapse of onprem and the slow down of cloud, only one scenario is possible....... so now there could be a little change in the strategy, keep good people as long as needed (1 to max 2 years) and then layoff them.

Much better get out immediately of such a toxic company in my opinion (and yes, I'm doing exactly this)

yeah, fake news like poor cloud performances and outlook (confirmed by last SC reporting to analysts), like the dismissing of onprem in favour of a non-existant cloud (confirmed by the new comp plan of the three geniuses at top), like the massive layoff in august (confirmed by ARIA, more than 1900 only in ES org), like the death of SPARC and Solaris, and so on.... yeah, all fake news, sure.

What do you mean Oracle took a $1.1 billion restricting reserve? I'm a little unclear what you mean and google results aren't very helpful, how does that indicate layoffs or poor performance. Honestly curious, I'm not very with those financial terms.

And then there is oracle HR posting misinformation. SC took lessons from DJT’s WH staff and the result is posts like the OP. Don’t fall for oracle’s misinformation. Oracle took a $1.1 Billon restreserve. MAny more layoffs to come
