Rumor has it that Flannery will offer a buy out package to every employee in the U.S. The package will be a lump sum to sever ties with the company completely. Any truth or thoughts to that? How many would take it?

I heard just the opposite...that early retirements are not an option. Maybe they’re offering an incentive to those already 65 to go ahead and retire. So much misinfo out here you’d think GE was running this site.
If it is sign me up!! GE is for the birds and treats workers like crap these days. Career days at GE are over!!!
Retirement option is being offered to many
Let’s be real. Flannery does not have a plan. This is obvious every time he pretends to answer the “top questions.” Like today, he side-stepped questions on pension and benefits, talked about JI’s 2 corporate jets, then threw out some vagueries about new product investment. We all know the #1 question is RIF where, how many and when...not a word about it. Their #1 goal is to enrich themselves and peons be damned.
Either way, joke or not, if you get the chance to leave a company where ; whether you have received plaudits from above, or done nothing much , you still have the same chance of being canned, ..and you can get a decent payoff, do it, the feeling of releief is wondrous ! Take that from one who knows...
Congrats. You win the most dumb post on here. Nice
Thoughts? Yes. You sir, are a moron. If you are an actual GE employee, chances are you won't be one who is let go. That would be part of the problem. Unfortunately, much like investors... good employees don't like uncertainty either. The talented ones will have no problem finding a new employer ahead of any announcement.
That's hilarious, and wishful thinking. The only people left would be the management idiots that ran GE into the ground.
What do you mean “buy out completely”? I can’t imagine they’d do something like this when all they have to do is lay you off now, pay your pension when you hit 65. That said, it would be tempting to take a full buyout of pension + a transitional lump sum.
LOL nice rumor.
