Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Is termination possible before actual layoff date?

I'm finding it so hard to concentrate and stay motivated knowing my time with Humana is coming to an end. I'm trying so hard to stay focused and work my remaining time with integrity, however, I'm concerned about my metrics. Has anyone in the previous RIF's been terminated before actual layoff date- specifically for productivity and not meeting metrics?

It is nearly impossible to transfer internally to a new position. The system is set up to not absorb many of the impacted employees. In order to even apply for a posted position you must have ALL the requirements, some of which are just ridiculous. If you do not have all the skills you will be immediately rejected. Don't have the experience? Too bad, there is no way to get it. Top employee in your department? Doesn't matter if you are missing that one skill. Most of us are highly intelligent and could quickly learn new skills and adapt to a new position but are not afforded the chance. I have been told, in many cases the hiring manager already knows who is going to fill the position, but has to go through the motions of posting. They are hiring outside the company to fill the majority of the openings. We don't stand a chance of staying with Humana unless we take a big step backwards!

I just wish Humana really tried to place employees in other positions. They are losing some great employees. May be to many laid off the last two rounds but with the earlier rounds that was possible. The CHE and PHC roles are educated in many areas.

Time to put your big girl britches on and carry on people .you were not targeted and you are not a victim. Truthfully humana is a good company and they are treating all those laid off well . I know you are angry and hurting and I understand that but focus your energy to move forward.. life is not fair .. get over it .. don’t blame humana or the leaders .. they had to do what was needed as a business decision and I know it tore them up to do it ..

As a care manager, I understand how hard it is to say goodbye to people I've talked to for many months or years. But I also remember how many of my members had other care managers before me that they greatly appreciated and missed, yet they grew to know and trust me. I know that I am not the only skilled care manager who can help these people. It is our job to help these members have confidence in the service that is delivered. I know that I am not the be-all, end-all in this role. There will always be someone coming along after me who is likely to do just a great a job.

Getting so outraged is not productive. No one at any company is promised a job for life. It’s just naive. Companies restructure and lay people off. It’s just the reality. Every moment you spend outraged is a moment someone else is looking for their next opportunity and probably for the same job you might want.

Unfortunately, you just can not discuss it with the members. You have to fake it until you are released.

I agree I know that there is about 15 people that I am really dreading telling them. You get so close with mbrs. Some people dont have anyone and now you have to tell them you will no longer be able to call them. It is going to be really hard

So how do you work as if you will be calling these members in 1 month, 3 month, etc.? Some members are like friends too. I know that I can be replaced but not saying goodbye to some of the members would kill me. How are you handling this?

I was laid off in the May 2017 RIFs - I do not know of anyone that was let go earlier than the 60 days unless the position they had no longer was needed and their current work was completed or moved to another associate. In the packet of information that was delivered to me in indicated that depending on the associates roll they could be released early and would be paid as if they still worked there and would not count as part of the severance time. Even though all my work was done and I was helping another area (killing time)- I stayed on for the full 60 days as my boss would not let us go early. (2 of us). The last 2 weeks we took advantage of the service provided for re- entering the work force which helped write my resume to todays standards and provided interview. information. I was with Humana for 28 yrs. Enjoyed the summer off and took care of a health issue I delayed for a long long time - now looking to get back to work before my severance pay drops off.

Being able to concentrate is definitely difficult right now and the thought that they could terminate me scares me.I️ was told not to worry about metrics but I️ don’t believe anything they say! Actively seeking employment now but God helps us all!

I haven’t been impacted yet, but have no doubt eventually I will be. I’m so sorry for those that have been. To come to work daily, care about the members and do a great job, shows the kind of talent Humana had and is letting go.

You can't even say out with the old and in with the new fresh hires. I'm a new hire and have been let go. From my understanding anyone hired in July, August and September was let go. Sounds like we were hired specifically to help roll out the new monitored program.

interesting to see the healthcare biz become a commodity product, This environment reminds me of Intel which laid off 12K people in 2016. semi conductor biz has been doing this layoff stuff for 30 years. out with the old and then they will hire fresh blood. hate to say this but it does not get better. Healthcare biz needs to make their numbers just like any other company.

I do not feel as though I have been treated poorly at all! I have been through layoffs before and frankly Humana has been quite generous. You are just bitter. The company owes you nothing. It's a business. You are not entitled to anything. Quit the pity party. There are folks laid off who have mortgages to pay and kids to feed. You are employed. If you hate it so much then find another job! It would benefit the company!

I used to worry about meeting metrics and providing good care to my members but now that this looms over my head I can't stay focused, I'm sick to my stomach and feel so badly for the members because the have no idea of what is getting ready to happen. Breaks my heart and pisses me off at same time. What a emotional roller coaster just get it over. Someone must love to torture people. Thx Humans

Let's all cut the crap! We all know what Humana does! They lay you off then tell you to exit two weeks after being notified. I expect no one who was laid off to be here still by January 2nd. I'm so sickened by the company and their poor treatment of their employees. My heart hurts for all of you. And the remaining employees. We need to wisen up ASAP. It's not over. It's simply not over. And we are a number. Simply put disposable. This company has no interfaith no loyalty to the hardworking employees they had. I wish all of you who were laid off the very best. And the rest of us.,hanging in for this poor treatment and stressful work environment, really need to start considering other options. I was always told ...at least we aren't on the floor working a "code blue" well quite honestly the stress I'm under it sure the hell feels like it. This waiting game to get laid off is a joke!

I feel the same.

It's so unstable.

My nerves do not appreciate this layoff approach (bit by bit)
