GE Power Greenville Manufacturing - Salaried Layoffs

The reason GE Greenville Manufacturing is forcing all salaried employees to reapply and interview for their jobs is:

1) GE can demote professional bands.

2) GE can reduce salaries

3) GE can get rid of those they don’t like.

4) GE can cut into the Greenville buddy protection groups established for years.

The problem with #4 is the leaders of the buddy groups are already assigned to be on the interview teams.

@2ayl, you are exactly correct. This is typical GE Leadership debacle as they already know who is being kept and who is getting walking papers. GE stupidity is getting more visibility and revealing why we are in such a mess. The problem IS with GE LEADERSHIP. Get rid of them!!!!

Can someone explain how this works? All salaried employees have to repost for a limited amount of jobs? Is this true? How could interviewing be fair? Aren’t there the protected and the not protected? Why not just lay off and avoid all the crap rehiring? Seems like a total disaster and debacle to me.

Yes. It's definitely done this way to avoid any possible allegations of discrimination issues. GE doesn't want lawsuits

They can do all of those things without this silly reapplication process. Of course, that would require leadership and integrity, both severely lacking at GE’s executive level.

This is unfortunately only the beginning of the Greenville’s actions.

Plus no one can claim discrimination because all salaried employees were laid off.
