CAM Layoffs Coming?

Overheard in Raleigh that there is discussion about totally eliminating the CAM position as the ROI is not adding up. Too many commercial customers have left to continue floating this position. I would assume this would include the CSM’s and field product support specialists.

My store cam quit as soon as he found out. Now I will never have a cam again as my commercial sales do not warrant.

My cam just came in the store and told me he was laid off on Saturday. His CSM told him there were others in his territory this week, My DM said he knew nothing about it. BS!

There are ongoing discussions of eliminating the CAM and CSM positions and transitioning to a Worldpac model of online and phone ordering managed by a DM only. This is being tested with the WorldQuest pilot in TX.

Everyone you talk to at AAP is either looking for a new employer or waiting until the end of 2017 to depart. The latter may have stock vesting giving them incentive to stay a little longer. No matter how you look at it, positive morale does not exist at this company.

you forgot to mention that the seasoned cams that remain are just riding it out as long as they can and go with the flow. These guys are either in their 50's or close to retirement. Either way new or old guys, the level of complacency is helping the ship to list further.

No surprise there. The good cams have already left and have taken nearly all of the commercial business. What's left is what get's cranked out of weekly Roanoke training for sales wannabees.
