Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

December 6 meeting (HCM-RN)

Do we know what this is about? Business as usual or layoffs related? Any info would be appreciated.

It is correct to say no raises in 2018. That was stated during the meeting. This one time payment is in lieu of raises. It screws us over in MANY ways. #1. It will be taxed like a bonus at about 40-45% unlike it being added via a raise. #2. We will not have more money put in our 401K based on increased wages...there is no increase. #3. Raises in 2019 will essentially result in less pay than we should get since it will be based on 2017 salaries.

So will there be another layoff prior to the lump sum notifications?

Why can’t they just give us a raise? Executives and come have increased. By us not getting a raise there’s no extra contribution to our 401(k)

It is erroneous to refer to the lump sum as a bonus and it is not correct to say there will be no raises in 2018. There was very clear information sent out about this and it will be sent again tomorrow. It is a lump sum advance payment of your 2018 raise. Read the facts and get it right before stating things incorrectly on this site and upsetting people with out reason.

I can't believe he said that they have to work on getting nurses to not leave. Really? REALLY? this is a novel idea, but maybe try not laying them off?

No raises in 2018 is not new news. That is why so many people were saying this "bonus" was just another way we are being screwed over

No acknowledgement of the recent layoffs. 1,000 plus people gone and no words, unless I missed it?

Did they basically say no raises in 2018?

The townhall today was a waste and a half. Let’s talk about 2019 because we live in a dream world where nothing happening in real time should be acknowledged or addressed.

If we’re going to be sold, we will find out in the media, like we did with the Aetna deal. No way we would get advance notice of a sale or merger.

Regular town hall. Lots of "we care for our employees" and "the holidays are great and we wish you a merry holiday season" but no direct answers. It will be all fake smiles and non answers.

I couldn't agree more with spin and kool-aid expectations. I don't listen to anythjng they have to say anymore. It's all repeated garble mixed up from the last irrelevant meeting. Open enrollment doesn't close until 12/7, so we'll get a lot of "we don't know yet, because the data isn't in yet" answers.

We are setting ourselves up for disappointment if we are expecting any relevant or useful information.

Go in expecting spin and kool-aid, and you won’t be disappointed.

Maybe they’ll talk about if or when we are going to be sold.

I say business as usual- other poster put it into perspective. Carefully crafted talking points and carefully selected 'questions' they chose to answer to keep the spin going until the next round of layoffs. I am not expecting anything other than spin and an hour we can never get back as well.

No they never talk about layoffs during these meetings- maybe a brief acknowledgement of the recent round but that’s it.

I would try to offer insight by summarizing the last healthcare services town hall, but it was a lot of useless rambling and an hour we can never get back.
