Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Here's a State of The Company Comment:http://www.businessinsider.com/whole-foods-shoppers-say-produce-quality-plunged-after-amazon-takeover-2017

So stores are looking shoddy, quality taking a dive and prices haven't actually gone down- most categories are up. Well Amazon- guess you should have done some homework instead of being sold the merger of the millennium idea! This is where WFM was heading- folks with a clue left and you own it!

Exactly. Since the layoffs in 2015, they have been stretching some team members to their very limits while firing others to save on labor. One person can't do the jobs of five people well. This chaos and terrible produce people are complaining about is because we were set up to fail by everything that happened two years ago and continues to happen as they fire people even during the busiest time of year. Amazon isn't to blame for this, but I think now that people were told Amazon took over, they're paying more attention and actually noticing what's been under their noses the entire time.

Yes, it's BS. All Amazon has done is lower a few produce prices. Everything else is business as usual...just some people being outspoken and using a convenient narrative.

This is b---s--- - anyone working for Whole Foods will know that Amazon didn't change a damn thing that quickly - all they did was lower prices on some products. Nothing about our sourcing or distribution has changed.

I agree with everything posted in the replays above.

We all know who ran WFM into the ground.

Actually, Amazon CAN correct it, and they will...In ways we can't imagine (or don't want to) When Amazon steps in, everyone will know it---have no illusions. It just won't involve us, LOL

Read the book "The Four: The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google" for a preview of how it's most likely to go down...

Understood completely- you see the way the company was run- no direct communication to or from the boots on the ground- left the regional folks to create their own little worlds- trouble was none of the worlds that were created were a good business strategy- everyone covered their butts without realizing what the real issues were. Unfortunately now labor is the only way to try to salvage years of poor decisions and lack of insight. Frankly they- and you- are screwed! The model no longer works because of all the poor decisions made in the past and Amazon can't correct with all of their money so they will strip the company of its assets and absorb all that was good into their business going forward. Mackey let the RP's run the company and he believed all they told him- now it's nothing but a memory....

THe conditions are because of the drastic labor cuts that keep happening. Our store is at the point that there is no way to get everything done. Our team leaders are at the end of their rope and are all wanting to leave.
