GE Power is Never Coming Back to Full Force - Simple Economics

Found this from an additional post.

From the Wall Street Journal's article today. Its a subscription so you will have to pay for the entire article.

"The growth in electricity generation over the next couple of decades is expected to shift toward wind and solar, technologies that don’t rely on the large turbines manufactured by GE. The Paris-based International Energy Agency predicts that renewable energy’s global share of power will rise from 24% to 40% by 2040. This trend can be seen in emerging economies, such as India, where coal’s share of power generation is expected to drop from 76% to about 50%, while wind and solar power rise dramatically."

They also had an article two weeks ago that states that wind and solar are already cheaper than natural gas and gusts of wind or solar energy from the sun isn't going to go up in the next two decades.

Face it, GE's Power's core business is going away and will never come back. If younger people plan on staying at GE for the next 20 to 30 years. Goodluck, GE power wont exist or if it does, it won't be big.
