GE Management Incompetence - The New GE

GE management is very poor because they promote people with little technical knowledge these days.

What made the old GE great was promoting only experts who worked their way up from the bottom, and knew the businesses they would manage. Todays GE managers have little expertise, change jobs every 2 years and just want to get promoted. Bad decision after bad decision by these change agents has destroyed GE and GE reputation with customers and demoralized the workforce.

GE Power is now a mess from decade of bad decisions that have bloated costs, incompetent management where most of the experts were fired for being old or quit and retired out of disgust.

The present situation at GE is a result of bad management from promoting six sigma type slime.

Why do we need experience if we have six sigma.

We were told that six sigma can replace experience. Maybe they should just have more six sigma to fix the problems and restore GE to greatness.

When you gut out your experts both in management, technical leaders, and hourly you wind up with dysfunctional organizations with bloated cost structure and inefficiency, and bloated management.

GE has promoted the wrong six sigma type people with little real knowledge of the business. Now they have ineffective organizations with bloated costs and can't make money anymore. Despite GE Power having $7.41 Billion in sales in 2017, they hardly mage any money and cash flow dropped 60%.

The future looks bleak unless they can fix these structural problems. Cutting across the board, and keeping bad inexperienced six sigma management is a recipe for disaster.

I'm work at Emmott Rd almost 7 years . This place is somebody's hobby , its not a company . Management is lacking and shows major favoritism . Too many superivors , lead man , assistant supervisor for each shift . My shift assistant supervisor can't even spell his maiden name . Decisions make on the spur of the moment , advice is ignored , general redneck in management , but if you were a buddy , you were okay . Hope GE will clean up this place this 15th i'm ready .

The problem is the managers have low IQ

It's becoming increasingly obvious why GE has failed. You need to start hiring people with a higher IQ. Your employees are your own worst enemy.

You give a very good description of what has happened at GE.I have recently retired after 39 years(hourly) and have seen the degeneration of the company through the new breed of management that refuses to address issues that were ignored by the previous manager, fearing to make make waves that might interfere with their next promotion. Also most of the older and experienced, skilled employees are retiring ,leaving many departments without expertise in many situations.Concerning six sigma, the numbers were so out of line with reality that it was a totally bogus and useless measure of quality.(at least in the area I worked in). With the two-tier pay scale and reduced benefits for new hires it is hard to keep good employees. All this has created a bad environment for competitive productivity and a world class product.

GE turbine business is a mess from bad management from new breed of manager with little knowledge they put in charge as six sigma change agents.

All these bad changes has destroyed the technical capabilities and cost structure of the business so bad that earnings dropped 60% dragging down the whole company stock to half of what it was. GE needs to get back to having experts run the business instead of what we have now. What happened to

Customers are getting fed up as well as workers with all this six sigma crap that promoted these new breed in the first place.

Wowww easy guys, no need to be disrespectful. Now the poster has a valid point hence the situation GE is in now. You two guys are what HR, PLs to be so defensive. I witnessed this happening a lot this days and I really start to believe it is a planned PR ou HR strategy to defend their baby kids. I hope not, but if this the case then you are the first ones that should be fired for you incompetence on allowing promotion to exec and SPB positions for this arrogant kids
