Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Demoralizing employees is the goal

I've often wondered if demoralizing employees is the goal. Demoralized employees are more likely to leave so it lowers layoff costs. It doesn't seem to matter that demoralized employees are unproductive so they cost more money than layoffs. Oracle certainly has more demoralized employees than any place I ever worked before.

This is exactly what's going on @QDMPlO8-lkq. The more they can get rid of without severance, the better. Two of my coworkers left just ahead of the last round of layoffs because they couldn't take the job uncertainty and toxic office atmosphere. They certainly saved Oracle some money.

I was at a tech event. Came across an Oracle rep. Nice guy. When he told me he sold storage I cringed. I felt terrible for the guy. The way I feel when I go to a car dealership and I think that this guy is just scraping by. Yes, it's a job but there are much better gigs out there. This is what Oracle has turned into. It never used to be this way.

Comes naturally to them, it’s who they are

That would explain why they don't just get it all over with. They actually want to drag it out, so they can save money overall. They don't care about the overall health of the company. They can always just buy some more employees by buying another company.

The strategy works, it just churns through people. The only way it wouldn't work, is if people finally got together and left all at once, or if employees that were purchased by Oracle would not stay for any length of time.

But, employees don't see the larger picture, they don't see the abuse until a few years pile up. They are looking at their specific situation to make decisions and often it is easier to stay once you get there, than to look for other work. LE counts on people behaving like that. Sticking around long enough to transfer the code to someone else.

So, it will just go on. LE, MH and SC will get richer and richer while the employees are treated like dirt, cause there are more where those came from, no need to do anything differently.

The 3 stooges are such dreadful, self centered and unpleasant people that they would piss of employees and customers regardless, that said, oracle certainly has no interest in making working there appealing, all the stooges care about is their own paychecks, which as we know are completely detached from oracle’s or their own performance. That’s what you get when you have an old senile guy running the company with a handpicked and useless Board of Directors. Down the drain she goes!
