Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

New job at same pay

Has anybody who was let go within the past year had luck finding a job that pays at least close to what they were earning previously at Dell? I've been looking for nearly six months, but the best offer I got was nearly 40 percent under my previous pay. Can't really afford to be choosy at this point, so I'll probably take that one.

I'm just wondering if other people are having better luck than I am, so that I can at least hold onto hope...

12xK for me, laid off in September last year.

Just accepted an offer for 90k+10k bonus, not as good, but other bennies help make up for it.

McDonalds is starting to look like my only option. Over 50 years old and all the tech jobs are either going to Ireland or a new college grad.

Today’s engineer has to have multiple degrees.

here in best location you can easily get 30% and above elsewhere. But NO flexibility.

Just curious - What was your range in pay at Dell? What was your job - Hw/Sw/Services/Manager/Director?

What is your age (range) now? Your age could be a factor in your finding a job and the pay they are willing to give you (especially since you're competing with lots of young people who can code and lots of young people with H1B visas).
