somebody mentioned sabre is done with layoffs because they're now firing folks, and it rang really true to me. several people here were fired recently, out of the blue. i didn't think much of it until i read that. now that i think of it, they were no slackers, so this sounds like a real possibility. wouldn't put it past this company.

Different kind of layoffs, probably a different kind of severance coming too. So glad to get the full severance pay out. I was waiting and ready to retire. It was good ride, working remote and great work life balance.
If you are fired for a stupid reason, you can get unemployment from Sabre, believe me. Unless you have gone against company policy or broken a rule (stealing, being out too much) they don't have much to fight the unemployment commission on. "Non performance" is subjective as far as unemployment goes. How do I know? I went through it. I was "fired" in between layoffs this year. All of a sudden I'm a non performer, everything I did was wrong, although I didn't change anything in five years and always had satisfactory reviews, I was given the PIP, did everything they asked, and was still let go and was told although my performance was improving, it wasn't enough because there wasn't enough work and the project I was working on was no more (AB). When I filed, Sabre "fought" it, but the TWC rep said everything was subjective on their end and they can't prove any gross negligence or wrongdoing. I got my money while I was job hunting and got a new job within six weeks of my release date.
How will I know if I am on an holiday?
Document your work and yearly evaluations. Ask for written, documented feedback and guidance. Find out if you truly s--- or if your boss was forced to provide an unfair and untrue evaluation. You will be surprised how many bosses are forced into that. There will be many firings, by being fired you are not entitled to any unemployment benefits, severance package and more. Basically, Sabre says to you "you s---, get out of my face!". Ask and learn why you are fired, beware TX is an at-will state meaning that you can be fired with no reason, or with a stupid reason like "Oh we didn't like your haircut"
