Thread regarding Sears layoffs

SEARS STORE FALLING APART

We have the worse SGM that EVER worked for sears here at 1720, his ignorance and poor management has caused half of our management team to leave our store. I will soon be leaving also. Why does this man remain working at Sears. Enough is enough wake up sears. We as a company are struggling, why allow this to continue to happen.

What a shame. I was just shopping in a Sears store and the store manager was visible on the sales floor helping associates and customers.

My store has lots of theft too. Shenanigans sure but also out & out theft. Missing money, missing inventory, jewelry getting resold online, time theft, you name it. Criminal activity. But we're good in credit & pa so we're viewed as a success regionally.

It’s bad real bad. How can you expect to get customers happy when basic store needs aren’t even met. At this point we are happy when the cleaning crew comes(they only show up max 5 times a week to clean once).

@vow too bad you worked there and you don't even know you had a theif in your ha dept just robbing the company blind. HE has taken the company for hundreds od thousands of dollars. What the hell you think all the markdowns and fake layaway were? Keep telling yourself you ran circles.

Our Kmart has almost no register operators left, and just a couple floor associates aside from the leads that the rumors here have all being laid off in a few weeks. We had more operators, but half of them quit to work at better paying retailers, and half of the remaining ones just don't show up for most of their shifts. Of course we can't fire them because then we'd just have nobody at all for much of the week. Instead, the opening key carrier (FT) usually ends up stuck being the sole operator at the service desk until noon, which certainly doesn't enthuse the customers. If we happen to be lucky enough to have a floor associate scheduled in the morning, they get stuck on register too, meaning there's nobody on the floor to help customers and no freight going out. Meanwhile, returns just keep piling up in carts to the point that probably 30-40% of our store's entire supply of carts is being used for storage rather than for customers.

Macomb was not an apparel store, lol. Though that’s what everyone at lakeside tells themselves.

Macomb cranked in tools and appliances, ran rings around lakeside and Oakland. Lawn and garden too. Not as many riding mowers as lakeside. But killed them in everything else.

I’ll grant you that the blonde in appliances would do some “favors” to get her customers a lower price, but other than her everyone there was just a worker bee.

The SGM usually worked in apparel.

@lwe yes macomb was an apparel store but let's face in in ha you a thief selling for you robbing the company blind. The only way he made sales and pa's was to take huge markdowns and managers approved cause he was blowing away the metrics. This theif ripped off lakeside, ripped off macomb and is still working for the company. Unbelievable, just goes to show company could care less if your stealing as long as your making number. "Sure mr customer I'll give you 50% off the pa but I'll take it off the product" what a joke

My SGM is properly as well one of the worst out their. He makes the most is the most hypocritical worker in the store. Does not help out in the store all he does is open his big mouth and boss everyone around. If they fired him the next day the store would probably perform better its not like he is a valuable asset.

A lot of the workers have left because of him no chance of advancement. He acts like hes on your side and wants you to grow, but in reality wants you to stay down their. I would also like to nominate my SGM as one of the worst out their.

I wish I felt comfortable naming my Sears store but if I could write freely it would show that it has one of the worst managers. My SGM would give #1720 some real competition.

I don't want to get into details but he is lazy, a blowhard & a slithering lying snake to his employees. He can look you in the eye without blinking and tell you the worst lies.

@lwe how do you know what's slated to be closed are you popcorn? I don't think anyone really knows who is closing unless it's the liquidator or your way up there in corporate. A few months back someone came on here and said the liquidator told them Troy was closing in October and Sterling in January. That never happened. No one knows what stores are closing

1720 is surprisingly not slated to be closed. It is one of the worst performing sears given it s location etc so it might well be the last to close.

Roseville ran circles around that dump.

Wow if it's that bad and you associates are unhappy with his management why don't you just tell him or tell his boss instead of coming on here and b--ching about it, that isn't going to help anything. Do you really think corporate or any management reads these posts? And you can't put names on here they will delete.

That store is probably going to close after the first of the year anyway. Hold off a couple months and if your the other half of the management you will get a package and be sent home.

Wow a lot of complaints about 1720 lately on here. If it's that bad maybe they should just close the store. When half of the management team leaves there is a problem.

they don't care about improving a store performance just continue with the liquidation of all stores over time
