Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

My store's Christmas disaster.

I don't have access to my stores actual numbers, but I've heard (rumors) that we were running more than 20% below last years numbers. I tend to believe it because there are certainly less paying customer this Christmas, especially in the extended early and late hours. There are still enough to tear apart the show. How Outstanding. My store is in a city in the northeast. How are other stores fairing this fourth quarter?

I’m in the NorthCentral District. We finished Dec. up. We were running out of merchandise also. We could have definitely sold even more, if we had owned more. January is a who knows kind of month. The weather plays a crucial role. The fear that always surrounds this time of year is dreadful. It destroys all of your motivation. It’s a terrible thing to know you can work hard and do your best....and it can mean nothing, if they close you down.

Same as last reply - low on merchandise and anything good is being sent out for Fulfillment. Good luck making MAGIC with that!

Southeast (FL) stores out of merchandise. Anything stores have left for customer favorite brands is pulled for fulfillment.

Southwest Region here. Week 1 and 2 were horrible. We are now starting to rebound having a very good week but do not know if that will make up for the large losses of weeks 1 and 2.

And as OP we are running the same about 20% down to LY.

I am in a large store in the North Central region. We are very busy basically from 10am-8pm every day, as always definitely not enough associates on the flood to handle the amount of customers. my district is having a great week compared to the rest of the month

Sales are pathetic across the board, and I heard the news report chrisstmas sales were "surging"

Yeah, fake news if there ever was some. I read some posts from Sears people and they said the same thing, sales are terrible, beyond terrible.

So there you have it, dont believe the news, especially when it says "Everything is AWESOME!!"
