Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

GE 2018 layoffs

The bulk of 2018 layoffs are early in the year so board level can get compensated once dust clears (3.5billion out). Once that is done they will concentrate on stock price so the top 900 will get there bonus. We are the pawns but i hope that this effort helps us out as side effect of them profiting. You have to realize that finance people are by the numbers and they plan to reach them regardless.

Wheather you believe this or not we need to concentrate on the numbers hopefull then management will move on to raising stock price and leaving us alone for awhile.

Keep laying off people, and you'll have no one left "to bring good things to life." And GE's implosion is not too unexpected, given the GE horrendous way of treating human capital. Any other company following this failed GE model will fail themselves.

I was canned from aircraft engines division in 94. Massive layoffs at evendale. Moved manufacturing and busted the union.

Jack Welsh or neutron jack we called him made the statement "determine your own future or someone else will"

It really did need to happen, so bloated..I don't give a damn about GE. I hope you all loose your jobs

The person that works in finance is spot on. If every operating unit knew how manipulated and inaccurate the internal financials were they would stroke out. BTW I just got my "we are eliminating your job notice" last Thursday. 17 yrs of service.

"The bulk of 2018 layoffs are early in the year..."

So a few layoffs here and there but nothing like what people were talking about last year. I guess the prophets of doom posting here will find something else to do?

I hear GE is moving as much as possible to India as soon as possible to cut cost in Q1

There will be huge layoffs in Q1 as a result

I sure would love to see unlimited free energy. Imagine no more need to fight wars for energy resources! Being able to set the thermostat as you please! And no more GE destroying the ecosystem and exploiting the workers! I certainly hope that comes true!

Just wait for the January 3, 2018 Announcement about the "free sustainable energy technology" that will be released from the Pentagon from the experiments on Alien Craft. Fossil fuels will be a thing of the past.

There will be huge layoffs in 2018 Q1 because of effect on payroll.

Since many workers get 4 weeks notice, then severance, if you lay someone off they are not off the payroll for months depending on service. For that reason, they will start cutting early to get them off payroll by mid year. The budget regarding this $3.5 Billion cost out determines timing

Wow. Looks like Armageddon is just around the corner......oil crash, global warming out of control, renewable energy & electric cars, polluted oceans, nuclear war threat, robots taking over, migration acceleration and now companies falsifying data as a pre-cursor to an economic mess and mass unemployment.

This is 100% correct. Practically every corporation is putting out false numbers and has been for years. Folks, we're currently in the last days of this economic system, whether you want to believe it or not, and those who pull the strings from on high are jointly working to hold the ship together as long as possible.

They do this by fake stats, from unemployment to corporate data and even govt numbers.

Why? To convince investors to buy stocks, bonds, send them their money. Not complicated. They need money desperately so they lie, cover up, whatever it takes to keep the wheels on the wagon.

it will end in tears and 2018 is the year. Count on it.

"But how do we even "concentrate on the numbers"? I actually work in finance, and I can't give you a single, relevant number. That's because our IT systems are a joke from the early 1990's that have been patched beyond belief, and as those numbers move from us low level peons up through the ranks of managers, each manager top lines it. So by the time it gets to the CFO and the board, its not even recognizable. And then it gets reported to the street as twelve different versions of the same EPS.

If this were any other company, "concentrate on the numbers" would mean putting out quality products, but at GE, it means fudge and hedge them until they look good enough for those sweet executive bonuses."
